Volunteer – Driver

Task

Role is to drive clients of the cancer support group to their treatments in various Dublin Hospitals. A course of 40 treatments is spread over 6 weeks and the round trip from Arklow will take 3.5 – 4 hours. Driver will be part of a team of drivers and can commit to whatever days suit them with a one day a month minimum. We have two or our own cars which can be used by volunteers or the driver may use their own vehicle and will be given out of pocket expenses to towards their fuel costs.

About Us

To provide support, information & services such as transport to hospital appointments to those affected by cancer living in the Arklow area. We cover Avoca, Tinahely, out to Barndarrig – Coolgreaney and Inch area.

We give free practical and emotional support to those who find themselves affected by a cancer diagnosis.

Our ability to offer our services relies solely on the volunteers, donations, and fundraising events that our community so generously provides.

The close-knit relationships we have nurtured with both patients and volunteers over the years have empowered Arklow Cancer Support to provide the many therapies, courses, services, and events that have helped make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.

What’s Required

Clean driving licence, careful driver, sensitive, respect confidentiality, reliable and flexible. Drivers will need to get a letter from their insurance company to indemnify the cancer support group and upgrade their insurance to Business Class 1 (usually a small fee is incurred)
