Age Cymru

Salary – £24,669.38 per annum

Age Cymru is extremely pleased to have been awarded funding from the Welsh Government to deliver the HOPE Project (Helping others participate and engage).

We are recruiting for a Volunteer Co-ordinator on a Fixed-term Contract to meet the HOPE project objectives by co-producing a regional framework for the development of advocacy across the Gwent region.

This role will encompass supporting its delivery – to recruit and support suitable volunteers within the region to deliver early intervention advocacy support, working closely and in collaboration with the local Age Connects and Age Cymru partners.

The HOPE Project is delivered across the entirety of Wales with some posts operating within regional footprints. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in the development and delivery of much needed local volunteer led advocacy support for older people through a community-based approach.

You will be part of a large team, contributing to positive outcomes for older people at a preventative and early intervention level through the various posts within the HOPE Project.

This role is offered on a Hybrid contract, the office base is County Hospital Torfaen but the role covers the whole of the Gwent region so the successful applicant must have their own vehicle and be willing to travel.

If you understand the diversity of the cultures, environments, and communities in which older people and carers live and the issues affecting older people and carers – we’d love to hear from you!

You will have:

  • Experience in recruiting, managing, and working with volunteers
  • Experience in working with others to deliver successful projects and services in a collaborative way
  • Ability to oversee organisation of work from plan to execution
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to use these for developing partnerships, negotiating, and influencing
  • Ability to manage, inspire and motivate self and others
  • Data analytical skills
  • Experience in networking, running meetings and events
  • Marketing and promoting experience
  • Knowledge of local services in the public or voluntary sector
  • Advocacy knowledge
  • Flexible approach to changing circumstances and make decisions based on new priorities and demands

What we offer in return:

  • Annual leave entitlement – 27 days made up of 24 choice days and 3 days to be used between Christmas & New Year – Including carry forward
  • Flexible Hours Working Scheme
  • Employer pension
  • Generous life assurance up to 4 times your annual salary
  • Healthcare cashback plan

Additional Information:

The successful person will be required to provide a car for business use and some occasional travel across Wales may be required. There may be occasional requirements to work evenings and weekends – these will be planned in advance.
