What will you be doing?
Our vision is for the Museum of Dartmoor Life to be the primary gateway to exploring Dartmoor, its history and people.
Our mission is to collects, conserves and interprets artefacts and stories relating to Dartmoor, its history and people. We engage with visitors and the local community to inspire diverse audiences and future generations to love and protect the Moor and its heritage.
We are looking for trustees that can help us deliver this exciting new vision and transformation from a rural museum in Okehampton to one which is the primary gateway to exploring the whole of Dartmoor, its history and people.
The chair will be responsible for driving delivery of the Strategic Plan, supporting the Trustees to contribute effectively and providing line management support to the part-time Manager.
What are we looking for?
Our ideal volunteer will first and foremost have a love of Dartmoor and enthusiasm for conserving its history. Other skills, experience and behaviours include
- Previous experience as a chair
- Integrity
- A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to their duties as a trustee
- Strategic vision
- Good, independent judgement
- An ability to think creatively
What difference will you make?
This role will be instrumental in delivering the 5 year Strategic Plan and in achieving the vision as a primary gateway to exploring the whole of Dartmoor, its history and people.
