Ballymun Regional Youth Resource (BRYR) is a vibrant Youth Work organisation working with 10-24 year old’s in Ballymun, Dublin.

Our aim is to empower young people from Ballymun

& surrounding areas to reach their full potential. We put in place a range of resources that will support them to make a happy, healthy and successful transition to adulthood.

We seek to promote health, well- being and resilience at all stages of their development. BRYR is seeking a Director/Governance. Board Directors take on general duties such as to: Comply with BRYR’s governing document Ensuring BRYR is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit Acting in the best interest of BRYR Act with reasonable care and skill Manage the assets of BRYR. BRYR has adopted a Good Governance Policy –The Governance Code for Type C organisations. This policy forms part of our ethical culture and makes provisions for the design and implementation of policies and procedures that will ensure the efficient and effective running of our organisation. The main characteristics of a Type C organisation are that the people who sit on the board focus solely on their governance/oversight role, delegating management and operational duties to the staff. There is a clear division between the governance role of the board and the management role of staff. The general duties and responsibility of the Director/Governance are:

Overseeing compliance with The Governance Code based on the five main principles as follows: Leading our organisation.

Exercising control over our organisation. Being transparent and accountable. Working effectively. Behaving with integrity. Being familiar with the charities governing document, the legal responsibilities of charities under the Charities Act 2009 and the charity’s internal governance rules Helping to ensure that charity directors file all relevant statutory returns and information with the Charities Regulator (e.g. annual reports, changes to the charity’s details and/or directors details) Ensuring that the board of directors are aware of the requirement to comply with the relevant codes such as the charity’s Code of Conduct for Charity Directors and the Charities Governance Code. If you have experience in this area and want to play a role in BRYR we are keen to hear from you. Board Meetings: There will be 9 board meetings. Board meetings are held on the last Monday of each month (except July, August and December) at 6:15pm. Candidates also have an opportunity to join sub-committees.

Meetings are held in BRYR, The Reco, Ballymun Central Youth Facility, Ballymun.

(At the moment, in line with Covid Safety measures, meetings are online.).
