Create a Digital App (Android and iOS, mobile/PC) for an International project in Ethiopia
What will you be doing?
Our NGO is called Global MapAid, or simply “MapAid”, and dedicated to putting on maps, where the aid is needed. It is registered in the UK and the US.
We are part of an international team (named MODL for Modeling Optimal Drilling Locations) that is developing an AI system, for showing where sustainable shallow groundwater may be found in Ethiopia. The (MODL) Project represents a collaboration among George Mason University, Arba Minch University and Global Map Aid with support by the Czech Geological Survey. The overall objective of this study is to identify optimal drilling locations for sustainable irrigation.
We need an unpaid volunteer, to develop an app. The “engine and steering” (the AI system) is already built so this volunteer would only be required to put on “the external skin” of the app.
All the Europeans and the Americans in the MapAid team are unpaid volunteers, as well as most of the members from developing countries, including Ethiopia.

This project is crucial to help double local food supply, reduce hunger, and ultimately enable peace to be a more viable proposition in Ethiopia.
The overall objective is to support better decision making for where to drill shallow boreholes for sustainable irrigation (<30 meters), by subsistence small farmers. This application will help save time and money, by increasing the rate of successful boreholes drilled.
This application will be open source, at no cost, to the community of well drillers.
