Volunteer Ireland

Task

In this role, you will be assisting with some of the following areas:

  • organising fundraisers and generating new fundraising ideas
  • grant writing
  • marketing
  • updating website and social media accounts
  • answering email enquiries
  • general admin/office support duties.

We welcome volunteers with ideas on how we could improve our services and further help people living with aphasia and their loved ones. We would love to hear from individuals who have skills not listed in this ad, that might be beneficial to Aphasia Ireland and our clients in a varied capacity as well.

About Us

Aphasia is the term for language problems caused by brain damage, such as stroke or traumatic brain injury. Aphasia can make it difficult for people to express their thoughts in words, or to understand what others are saying.

Aphasia Ireland Has Been Set Up To Do This In The Following Ways

Aphasia Ireland is a registered charity, formed with the sole aim of creating awareness and support for sufferers and those around them. With your help, we wish to empower people with Aphasia to overcome the challenges and barriers that stand in the way of a normal happy life. To also help their partners, close family members or carers to manage the burden of care associated with Aphasia.

  • To create awareness of what Aphasia actually is.
  • To establish a nationwide network of Support Groups where both sufferers and their carers can benefit from the experience and understanding others
  • To keep abreast of the latest developments in the management and treatment of Aphasia and pass that information on.

Training will be provided online via Zoom.

What’s Required

We are looking for a volunteer with a positive and friendly attitude who is self-motivated and trustworthy. They will be a self-starter who can work independently as well as be able to work well within a diverse team.

Skills, Qualifications And Experience Relevant For This Role

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong IT skills
  • Organised and detail oriented

This role may be particularly suited to individuals studying towards a degree in one of the following areas: PR, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Business Administration or Business Management, Event Management

Previous experience of administration and/or non-profit organisations would be an advantage.
