This position is open to those working in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Australia. You may work remotely from your home or a national office.

This Regional Vice President leads the functional implementation of Compassion’s approach to holistic child development in partnership with local churches in Asia. Leads teams of leaders and professionals to direct the localization and implementation of Global Program policies and processes, ensuring that our development and partnership methodologies are sound and effective across Compassion’s operations in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Through cross-functional leadership, he or she also drives the implementation of operational models, efficiencies, and local strategies to implement Compassion’s programs, tailored to local needs and challenges. He or she champions a developmental mindset among leaders from across Compassion while driving program outputs in alignment with Compassion’s Theory of Change and Theory of Action. This person also provides talent management of professional staff including hiring, discipline, and termination, as well as, coaching, performance management, assigning, checking, and approving work to satisfy broad objectives and department strategies. This person will ensure completion of function responsibilities, calling on available resources to achieve global function objectives, working within approved budget.

What will you do?

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.
  • Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.
  • Provides leadership and development to direct reports. Works with staff to foster an environment of professional growth, in alignment with compassion’s strategies and objectives. Consult with peer management and senior leaders to successfully align departmental resources and priorities across Compassion.
  • Compiles or prepares and administers the annual budget and departmental expenses, ensuring accountability for on-time completion of deliverables based on department objectives, SLAs, and other Compassion standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and board policies.
  • Selects, manages and develops assigned staff, establishing goals and objectives, coaching and managing performance, including discipline, motivation, and annual reviews; supports continuous learning and development that enhances individual performance and organizational capability.
  • Provides high-level strategic direction and oversight to the prioritization of initiatives and resource allocation for Program implementation throughout the region. Working through a team of subordinate leaders and professionals, drives localized strategies in alignment with corporate and global programmatic strategy.
  • Engages with senior leaders and executives from across the ministry as well as major donors and other significant audiences/individuals, effectively representing the organization and region for greater understanding and engagement. Further champions and aligns strategies for collaborative programs and support initiatives.
  • Negotiates with leaders and executives of Support functions (including HR, IT, Finance) to align and drive operational and process support for program operations throughout the region, provided through the work of subordinate leaders and professionals.
  • Fosters a culture that promotes cross-functional continuous improvement through subordinate leaders and teams. Provides high-level direction to the overall implementation of programs and initiatives and leads proactive and timely responses to both internal change and external factors.
  • Effectively communicates across the region and organization key directions, issues, and initiatives to build understanding, support, and alignment.
  • Stays current with industry trends, local political climate changes, and programmatic advances impacting this function on a global scale.

What do you bring?

  • Strategic program leadership and deep knowledge of child and community development within Asia.
  • Leadership over a similar-sized organization and team. This person will lead 3-4 direct reports and a region of 5+ countries.
  • Success leading major expansion efforts and program changes.
  • Cross-cultural experience working closely with teams across the Asia region.
  • Cross-functional engagement; collaborating with global partners and functional departmental leadership.
  • External representation; partnering with a variety of external stakeholders: government, NGOs and other partners.
  • Relationship building with major donors from various countries.
  • Ability to develop talent and create leadership pipelines.
  • Spiritual leadership and discernment; experience working with church leadership of various cultures.
  • Advanced English language speaking, reading and writing.
  • Master’s Degree in a related field.

Working Environment

May work from a remote office (within Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia or Australia) or a Asia national office.

Travel Requirements

May be required to travel up to 30-40% of normal schedule including but not limited to travel to the United States, Africa, Latin America & Caribbean and across Asia region.
