Venor has partnered with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) for the recruitment of a Director of Finance & Administration.

Reporting to the Registrar & CEO, the Director of Finance and Administration has overall responsibility for finance, human resources, IT and risk management for the College while ensuring the achievement of objectives consistent with the mission, vision, values and the Medical Act and Regulations.

 

The Director of Finance & Administration develops and implements accounting policies, coordination of systems and procedures, and the preparation of operating data and special reports including interim and year-end financial statements. In conjunction with the Registrar & CEO, coordinates, reviews and endorses budget proposals, discusses proposed changes and significant changes.

 

The Director of Finance & Administration will manage the operating procedures of the College, including short and long-term goals. They will establish an adequate plan for the control of operations including profit planning, programs for capital investing and financing, expense budgets and cost standards. The Director of Finance & Administration compares performance with operating plans and standards, and reports and interprets the results of operations and business central updates to the Registrar & CEO.

 

In collaboration with the Manager of IT, the Director plans, implements, and manages the IT strategy to meet the needs of the College, with particular focus on staff and member needs, organizational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and technological change. Supporting the HR Officer, the Director helps to set the strategic direction of HR in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the College.

 

As the ideal candidate, you have post-secondary education in business, accounting or finance, along with a chartered professional accountant (CPA) designation. You have several years of industry experience leading people, operations, and building on strategy and programs. You have a continuous improvement mindset and excitement for innovation. trends for continuous improvement and innovation. A strategic, big picture thinker, you can also roll up your sleeves and drill down into the details when needed.
