The Unicef Nigeria Country Office is looking to recruit a Nutrition Officer at NOB level on a fixed term contract to join the nutrition section in Abuja. This role reports to the Nutrition Manager and will be responsible for

  • providing professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for the nutrition programs/ projects through the application of theoretical and technical skills in collecting, analysing and presenting technical program information while learning organizational rules, regulations and procedures to support the development and formulation of the Nutrition programs.
  • Supporting the nutrition team on advocacy, policy formulation, and creating an enabling environment for the implementation of nutrition programs in Nigeria.
  • Tracking budgetary allocation and financing of nutrition interventions (Nutrition specific and Nutrition sensitive) in Nigeria
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on policy strengthening activities
  • Representing UNICEF in advocacy platforms (e.g., Scaling Up Nutrition Movement) and activities as appropriate.

To be considered for this role, you will need to possess the minimum below requirements:

  • A university degree in one of the following fields is required: nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, health sciences, nutritional epidemiology, or another health-related science field.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in a developing country in one or more of the following areas is required: nutrition, public health, nutrition planning and management, or maternal, infant and child health/nutrition care.
  • Experience in strengthening the health systems for improved nutrition projects
  • Experience in health/nutrition programme/project development in a UN system agency or an international development or humanitarian context will be considered an asset
  • Good knowledge and hands on experience in analysis, research methodology, and statistical skills
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or the local language in the duty station will be considered an asset
