Description Of Duties
The UX Researcher is responsible for planning, conducting, analyzing, sharing, and storing user centric research. Research activities and learning objectives will vary project to project, and may inform needs throughout the product development lifecycle. Researchers collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers, and UX Leadership to address strategic, discovery, and usability questions. They are responsible for selecting the appropriate research methods given the questions to be answered and collaborating with colleagues on research stimulus and prototype development as needed. UX Research is responsible for development of, and ongoing updates to, user personas.
Key Responsibilities
- Work across projects and teams, often handling multiple projects concurrently
- Represent the voice of users at all times and inspire teams to put the user at the center of every decision made
- Execute on strategic and exploratory research initiatives that will be acted upon by multiple teams
- Develop and evolve design personas built upon user insights
- Collaborate with UX Designers on usability studies throughout the design process, gathering feedback on sketches, fidelity prototypes, live code, and everything in between
- Demonstrate strong awareness of the market problems Grafana Labs seeks to solve and build empathy for our users
- Distill findings into actionable insights and communicate them to product, UX and engineering teams
- Uncover usability issues, customer use patterns, and trends that emerge across studies by building, maintaining, and growing our research repository
- Demonstrate commitment to the betterment of the UX team and advancement of our UX team’s maturity
- Prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion in your work and create an environment of respect with colleagues and research participants
- Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of research participants’ information as well as insights derived from them
Requirements
- You are comfortable working in a remote-first company; communication is key. For us, working together means being collaborative, friendly, kind, and respectful. We operate by consensus, you can contribute to a discussion but then commit to the team decision.
- You can easily and clearly communicate in English (both written and spoken)
- Knowledge of Research Operations best practices and processes, experience implementing these concepts is nice to have but not required
- Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
- Ability to work quickly and shift priorities frequently
- Self-directed, and able to take on work that needs to be done without specific direction
What You’ll Bring To The Role
You can transform ambiguous questions into a research plan and share tangible results with colleagues. You’re capable of processing multiple inputs and providing actionable, concise recommendations. You influence product priorities and the roadmap with direct user insights as well as signals from observed patterns and trends. You have existing professional experience using multiple research methods such as: usability studies, surveys, interviews, behavioral analytics, diary studies, co-creation and participatory design workshops.
