Position Summary

The User Experience Strategy Intern will work on the design strategy team to help to shape future customer experiences and educate BUs on design thinking/strategy. The qualified candidate will have a background in training or education. They must be familiar with design thinking methods/tools. This person will have a working knowledge of user interview, personas, customer journey maps, sketching, critiquing, and user testing.

The qualified candidate operates under direct management supervision. They assist other design strategists with their projects, compile results, take pictures, create training material, and development presentations. They will help to develop training classes and assist in education initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist design strategy workshops to shape future product vision or service offerings.
  • Work under general direction of manager on small projects.
  • Perform early research to assist on complex projects with other team members.
  • Creates material to be used in client workshops: including personas and journey maps.
  • Helps compile results, takes pictures, analyzes data, and assists in recommendations.
  • Translate insights and strategy into concept prototypes to communicate new product visions.
  • Rapidly visualize ideas in multiple mediums: sketches, wireframes, prototypes, etc.
  • Must synthesize research into concrete recommendations and communicate them to the team.
  • Must be able to communicate at all levels of the organization: C-suite, Directors, Managers, etc.
  • Develop design thinking training material for practitioners and executive workshops.
  • Assist in scaling design strategy across Sabre through client workshops and BU education.
  • Use various methods (research, prototyping, user testing) to deliver meaningful outcomes.
  • Present findings and recommendations in a plan that drives future design improvements.
  • Coordinate with direct manager to plan all customer-facing workshops.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s Degree and/or adequate certification in User Experience
  • A minimum of 1 year of training/teaching experience (preferred)
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working at an IT company (preferred)
  • Working familiarity with design thinking tools and methods

Preferred Certifications

  • IDEO Certified Design Thinking Facilitator Certificate (preferred)

Preferred Experience

  • Background in training/leading workshops or classroom teaching is preferred.
  • Comfortable interviewing/observing people in different situations and putting them at ease.
  • Must possess excellent story-telling skills to communicate compelling experiences and visions.
  • Mastery of the design process, particularly in solving innovation challenges.
  • Proven track record of consistently producing deliverables that are well-written and timely.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects.
  • Must work collaboratively and productively with diverse teams with competing objectives.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a fast-paced, highly interactive environment.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative user research methodologies.
  • Self-starter who is comfortable with minimal day-to-day guidance and works independently.
  • Exhibits strong problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to make recommendations based on observed user behavior and prior experience.
