Are you good at coordinating the smooth implementation of programmes and operational activities? Do you want to help the people who are fleeing from Ukraine? Then apply for Field Coordinator and become the point of contact and face of this mission!

WHERE WILL YOU BE WORKING?

Boat Refugee Foundation (BRF) provides medical and psychological (emergency) assistance and stands up for the rights of people who are on the run. Where systems become inhumane and compassion is lost, we take action. Since 2015 we have been working in different locations at the borders of Europe.

We are launching a mission to provide medical care for people fleeing Ukraine in the very near future.

*Please note: this position can only be filled by someone who is an EU citizen.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

The Field Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, consolidating and ensuring smooth implementation of programs and operational activities and adherence to logistical and safety procedures. You are the point of contact and face of the mission. An important part of your job is to maintain and develop a diversity of external relationships and/or partnerships.

These are your responsibilities:

  • Your primary responsibility is the operational and logistical support to the mission(s) in Eastern Europe.
  • You represent the Boot Refugee Foundation and build a network with other organizations and authorities. You maintain warm relationships with organizations we work with.
  • You are responsible for the safety of staff (incl. volunteers) and the working environment of BRF. For example, you ensure that information related to safety and security is provided to all new incoming volunteers and staff and you monitor compliance with safety procedures.
  • You assess and analyze risks, you monitor and report on the safety situation and you develop safety procedures relevant to the context.
  • You will manage part of a team of volunteers.
  • You are responsible for administration and finances and make financial decisions in consultation with the team in the Netherlands.
  • You keep the monthly budget up to date and make the quarterly reports in collaboration with our financial officer in the Netherlands.
  • You are responsible for the contracts regarding accommodation and transportation and make sure that these logistics all run smoothly.
  • You are responsible for coordinating donations brought in by volunteers.
  • You will help the medical coordinator with additional tasks.
  • And last but not least: based on everything you see and hear, you actively contribute to the improvement of BRF’s missions.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • You have proven leadership qualities and experience leading a multicultural team.
  • You are decisive and can work well autonomously.
  • You have experience (or the ability to learn quickly) in developing tools to monitor and evaluate the effects of a program or activity.
  • You are extremely flexible and stress resistant, you know how to get things done, always see opportunities and act in a solution-oriented manner.
  • You are decisive and energetic and therefore able to make decisions independently but also know when to consult others.
  • You are administratively strong (you can work well with Excel, Word, Gmail and Google Drive).
  • You have a good command of the English language, both verbally and in writing. In addition, speaking Russian/Ukrainian is an advantage.
  • It is an advantage if you have previously done volunteer work for Stichting Bootvluchteling.

WHAT ELSE DO WE EXPECT FROM YOU?

  • The position is open immediately: you are available as soon as possible.
  • You are available for at least three months.
  • You are a resident of the European Union. This has to do with employment possibilities from a labour law perspective.

WHAT DO WE OFFER YOU?

As field coordinator you will receive a modest salary, appropriate to the character and goals of our organization, based on a 40-hour work week.
