Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

Under the supervision of the Programme Policy Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Contribute to the preparation and delivery of a training for new partners on mainstreaming of nutrition-sensitive activities, screening for malnutrition, addressing anaemia, awareness and social behavioural change, gender, and women empowerment.
  • Act as a point of contact for resolution of a range of operational queries and problems within a specific technical area of responsibility.
  • 3Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
  • Coordinate and communicate with local partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions to perform accurate nutrition analyses and to ensure efficient implementation of nutrition activities.
  • Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of various activities and processes within the specific area of work ensuring alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
  • Participate in the development and adaptation of nutrition education materials and tools including recipe book development, posters, and flyers focusing on healthy eating habits, balanced diets, IYCF and prevention of malnutrition)
  • Conduct field visits to monitor the implementation of kitchen spaces, malnutrition screening, and awareness sessions to assess progress, and identify areas for improvement and propose some recommendations.
  • Support the implementation of nutrition programs, including Gender-Nutrition surveys, and other data collection activities such as focus group discussions with beneficiaries.
  • Within the specific area of responsibility, prepare a range of reports and data analysis (e.g. nutrition data, generating reports and recommendations) and highlight trends/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
  • Review data available from various internal and external stakeholders, internal systems and databases to provide insights on good and bad nutritional habits in the community based on most purchased items.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including MoPH, NGOs, and the Nutrition Sector, and attend Regional Sector meetings to support program coordination and alignment.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, best practices, and research in the field of nutrition.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Completion of secondary school education. First university degree in Nutrition (B.Sc.) is desirable

Experience: Six (6) years of relevant work experience in the fields of food security and nutrition programme implementation, monitoring, performance assessment, and/or research. Experience working in an emergency context is desirable.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic. French is a plus.

Required Experiences for entry into the role:

The ideal candidate for the Programme Associate position should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Experience supporting the implementing nutrition or other health-related programmes.
  • Understanding of nutrition interventions through community-based platforms, and integration of social and behavioural change and nutrition-sensitive actions across multi-sectoral programmes including health, education, livelihoods and food security.
  • Good knowledge of nutrition concepts including various forms of malnutrition, micronutrients, IYCF practices, and knowledge of guidelines or best practices to address nutrition problems in the community.
  • Understanding of the theory and application of food security, nutrition, and women’s empowerment programs and their operational systems.
  • Familiarity with data collection and analysis methods, including the use of statistical software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent writing skills and experience in reporting.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
