The Role

Job purpose:

Your aim is to meet the client requirements as a Unix/Linux Administrator.

Key Skills/knowledge:

· Good knowledge and experience on Redhat linux 6.x/7.x/8.x, Sun Solaris 10/11, Redhat Satellite, Ansible, Unix shells and scripting.

· Good understanding of Unix/Linux booting process & system startups.

· Sound knowledge of services like NFS, NTP and utilities like tar, top, sar, ssh

· Hands-on experience on LVM, ZFS, UFS, SVM etc.

· Working knowledge and experience of different types of storages (NAS/SAN)

· Hands-on experience of linux patching using Redhat Satellite / YUM

· Working knowledge of VXVM & basic knowledge of Veritas Cluster

· Troubleshooting of boot issue, LVM issues etc

· Working knowledge of VMware / VPCs, AWS or Azure to manage the configuration and maintenance of System related tasks

· Server performance monitoring and analysis

· Good knowledge of ITSM process, adhere to SLA response

· Knowledge of Unix shell scripting would be an added advantage

· Working knowledge of DRP (disaster recovery plan) and BCP (business continuity plan) and able to translate business requirements and needs into technical requirements

· Configuration and maintenance of both UFS and ZFS file Systems

· Backup and recovery of Sun Oracle Solaris Operating System

Your Profile

Key Responsibilities:

· Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, project justification and procurement according to procurement processes and policies

· Perform vendor management to ensure implementation is in accordance to stipulated requirements so that service/ system SLA requirements are met

· Identify and assess risks, provide/review risk mitigating measures associated with the technical solutions and the migration plan

· Implement changes according to Change Release procedures

· Review and analyze systems logs (events logs, error logs, audit logs, security logs etc.)

· Perform incident logging/update incident, chronology into incident management system

· Perform systems heath checks, maintain and up-keep monitoring systems to proactively identify potential issues

· Detect and eliminate technical issues in complex systems, utilizing monitoring and other analysis tools to ensure optimal system performance and drive restoration calls independently and decision

· Correlation and diagnosis of events

· Identify recurring incidents and establish remediation plans

· Ability to establish alliances with other teams through recognition of dependencies

· Should be able to efficiently handover to overlapping shift across the globe

· Suggest process improvements to increase efficiencies to increase organization’s capacity

· Good skills to work on escalated and high priority issues and promote process improvement

· Maintain technical documentation, reports and records regarding infrastructure solutions

· Able to translate business requirements and needs into technical requirements
