The escalation of conflict in Ukraine has forced more than 5 million people – mostly women and children – to flee to neighbouring countries. With the escalating crisis, the needs are growing by the hour. More than half of Ukraine’s children have either fled for safety within the country or are living as refugees.

Since the conflict started, our teams have been on the ground assessing and responding to the urgent needs of those searching for safety. We are currently scaling up our multi-country response across three countries (Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine) and are recruiting for many key positions that will make a direct impact on the lives of people who have been caught up in conflict.

Here’s where you come in:

As the Country Response Director for Ukraine & Poland, you will ensure a timely, efficient, appropriate and effective response to meet humanitarian needs.

Your primary responsibility will be managing the response from strategy to implementation, inclusive of performance and oversight of all aspects of the response. You will develop and maintain an efficient, cohesive team, whilst ensuring effective coordination and relationships with the other agencies, officials, beneficiaries, donors and all areas of the Partnership for the Ukraine/Poland sections of the Ukraine Crisis Response (UCR).

Your major responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing World Vision’s UCR Response in Ukraine & Poland
  • Leadership
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with humanitarian actors, government representatives and World Vision (WV) stakeholders
  • External Engagement
  • Implementing a response programme in accordance with response commitments to meet international and World Vision standards
  • Overseeing Security function, planning and implementation to ensure response staff and organisational safety and security
  • Ensuring the response’s internal and external reporting requirements are established & met
  • Ensuring the response meets World Vision’s minimum quality standards and supports program improvement, reflection, learning and innovation

Requirements Include:

  • University Degree or Postgraduate qualification and/or professional background in strategy development, operational implementation, international development/ humanitarian or other relevant fields
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of international humanitarian leadership, operations and programme management, preferably extensive operations experience in fragile contexts
  • Substantive humanitarian leadership, people management, complex crisis management at global or regional levels in Fragile Contexts with humanitarian IO or INGO over recent 5 years
  • Effective in written and verbal communication in English.
  • HEAT mandatory; SRMT or equivalent recommended

  • Frequent international travel (25-35 %) including field visits in humanitarian responses, external engagement/ representation at international conferences, forams
