Finn Church Aid (FCA) is seeking for a Country Director based in Ukraine. FCA is at a challenging position to establish humanitarian work to respond the impact of war in Ukraine. This is an internal and external recruitment at FCA. The position will be for two years to start, with an extension possibility.

Duties and responsibilities:

Primary responsibility of the Country Director is to provide leadership and strategic direction of FCA`s humanitarian operations in Ukraine.

  • Be responsible for developing FCA country strategy based on FCA Global Strategy
  • Be responsible for staff security
  • Leading overall FCA’s program work and quarantee its impact
  • Be a supervisor for FCA’s Senior Management team of Ukraine
  • Lead logistics, HR and financial management of the country office according to the applicable Statutory Requirements as well as ensures that policy and guidelines issues by the SAC are followed
  • Lead people: Create an open and empowering working culture and leading people in a fair and trust-building way
  • CD Is the ultimate responsible for compliance of the office with set standards. He/she is responsible for implementing locally the complaint mechanism according to the rules and procedures of FCA
  • Lead the organization: Striving to achieve sustainable impact through FCA’s Global strategy and lead the process of establishing the country strategy for Ukraine program
  • Lead innovations: Identify and lead innovation opportunities and manage the people side of innovation by tapping into the creativity of the FCA team and partners, in order to have sustainable impact and growth for the country program
  • Effective communications: Ability to deliver messages that inspire effective team work and taking action, while promoting accountability and strategic alignment; active listening to beneficiaries staff and stakeholders; ability to communicate concisely and persuasively
  • Demonstrating quality and accountability at all work areas: Acting in line with FCA’s vision, values and quality & accountability standards

Competence and Personal Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in senior leadership role, special emphasis on program management, with strong focus on humanitarian work
  • Preferably he/she has management experience either from Ukraine or from nearby region
  • Solid understanding of how education in emergencies programming , with focus on in-depth understanding on Ukraine context
  • Strong asset is if the candidate has already existing networks and relationship with Ukrainian government, humanitarian community and partners
  • In depth understanding on nexus-programming
  • Preferably experience in FCAs thematic areas: Right to Quality Education, Right to Livelihoods and Right to Peace
  • Experience in partnership building and management with local CSO partners, donors and national government
  • Experience in leading self-implemented, partner-implemented and consortium operations
  • Results-oriented, effective decision-maker
  • Cultural sensitivity, diplomatic, positive and constructive approach
  • Experience of leading efficient and transparent financial management processes
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in English, Ukrainian language a strong asset

The contract duration is for two years; extension of contract is negotiable. The compensation is based on FCA Compensation System and depends on prior work experience. Start date for this position: as soon as possible.
