Project Manager with BA experience to support Data Operations
Why do we need you?
We are working on two projects: TGi and GERMLINE. We need your help to manage complexity in data operations and keeping track of all work that needs to be done.
We would like to hire someone to help with this and keep the trains running.
Daily work
Manage the queue of ongoing curation requests and make sure they are handled in a timely way.
Manage the queue of infrastructure development work we will be creating and help us transform big picture ideas into a backlog of actionable tasks.
Manage the queue of data curation tasks we need to execute and help us transform larger tasks into a backlog of actionable tasks.
Professional Background
Candidates should have experience in biological sciences (or equivalent). An international professional and hands-on laboratory experience (for example in biochemistry, molecular biology or drug testing) is an advantage. Experience in project/grant management is a plus. Additionally, lab management or group leader experience is desirable.
Experience in IT and as a SM/PM/DM is must have.
Prioritized Strengths We Are Looking For
Training as a Project Manager or Scrum Master (we are open to either) with direct experience
Has a strong collaboration mindset
Expertise with JIRA is a plus
Relevant scientific training in bioinformatics/genomics
This person needs to be in the same or similar timezone to us (PST).
Must Have Skills And Experience
At least 4-year experience in working as a Project Manager
Excellent oral and written English communication skills
Experience in working in international, distributed teams
Experience in using agile / scrum tools and artifacts
Prior experience with collaborative coding/development and agile methodologies.
Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban), understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices
Excellent knowledge of Scrum techniques and artifacts (such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, backlog refinement)
Proactivity, problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability
Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills
Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques
Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
Understanding of the servant leadership model
Self-motivation and ability to stay focused in the middle of distraction
Nice To Have Skills And Experience
Understanding of DevOps culture
Experience with large scale, complex technology deployments
Experience working in large organizations
Experience with Nexus framework
Agile coaching experience
A good listener enabling the team members to speak and sharing ideas
Successes in fostering good development and testing practices enabling efficient delivery process that follows established rules
Have courage in difficult conversations, being focused on logical arguments enabling improvements
Successes in ensuring optimal communication model in the team so everyone feels that has influence on the way the team operates and all the important aspects are managed
Experience in helping PO with product roadmap preparation, writing high quality requirements, ensuring clear priorities
