In Save the Children Denmark’s International Department we focus on programmes and advocacy for children and youth in fragile contexts across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

You will become part of an engaged and dynamic organization with a strong drive to constantly strengthen the quality and impact of our work through improved knowledge and evidence. You will join an Evidence and Learning Unit within the International Department, where you will work closely with other ambitious and motivated colleagues to strengthen evidence and learning in support of Save the Children’s programmatic and advocacy objectives.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Driving forward SCD’s research efforts.
    This includes at times conducting and leading research in strategic areas and overseeing and advising research projects commissioned by SCD.
  • Coordinating SCD’s research efforts.
    Exploring and developing strategic research partnerships with academia, private sector, and partners.
  • Taking lead on research fundraising.
    This involves coordination and writing research proposals together with academic and private sector partners
  • Taking lead on dissemination of research findings.
    This involves planning, coordinating, and hosting research dissemination events and transforming research into actionable policy analysis and programmatic guidance in collaboration with thematic and policy advisors.
  • Identification and exploration of key trends.
    This involves identifying and exploring emerging trends both at global, regional, and local level in SCD key areas of interest geographically and thematically, and for transforming this to learning across SCD, the wider Save the Children Association, and the sector.

YOUR PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

  • Relevant social sciences academic degree at a Masters level or higher. Candidates with PhDs are preferred.
  • Experience in the development/humanitarian sectors and professional work experience conducting and leading applied research efforts.
  • Proven success in engagement with the academic sector, building mutually beneficial cooperation, and securing funding opportunities, including writing large research proposals.
  • Understanding of key development and humanitarian challenges and approaches. Knowledge of issues concerning children and young people in fragile contexts is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with experience in knowledge transfer and learning, running workshops, seminars, presentations, creating learning materials etc.
  • Excellent spoken and written English. French writing and speaking skills an advantage.

CONDITIONS
You will be employed according to the terms and conditions of the local Collective Agreement between Red Barnet (Save the Children Denmark) and the relevant unions. The position is an AC classification with 37 working hours per week. Some travel will be required.
