Organizational Setting

The main aim of the FAO country offices, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner. For the period 2022-2026, the FAO Office in Zimbabwe is supporting Government efforts through the Country Programme Framework (CPF) which is based on three pillars: (i) Promotion of inclusive and sustainable agrifood systems to address food security and nutrition; (ii) Building resilience to climate change, agricultural threats and crisis; (iii) Sustainable management of natural resources and environmental protection.

Reporting Lines

Tasks And Responsibilities

Working under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative for Zimbabwe (FAOR), administrative supervision of the International Administration Officer and direct supervision of the Senior Transport Assistant, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

  • Assist in the delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items, as instructed;
  • Drive FAO vehicles and staff on authorised office and field trips following laid down procedures;
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle and ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean, in good running condition, regularly serviced and properly maintained;
  • Take responsibility for the security of the vehicle;
  • Ensure that all necessary tools and equipment (i.e. tools kit, fire extinguisher, first aid medical kit, VHF mobile radio, etc.) are in the vehicle at all times, operational and properly safeguarded;
  • Maintain a vehicle log book for recording trips, daily mileage, fuel issued, etc.;
  • Meet authorized personnel at the airport and assisting them through immigration and customs formalities;
  • Ensure any accidents are reported to the relevant state and FAO authorities as necessary;
  • Serve as duty driver when required;
  • Perform other duties as may be required from time to time

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • Secondary education with five ordinary level passes
  • Holder of a clean class 2 driver’s licence and valid defensive driver’s licence
  • At least 2 years of professional driving experience
  • Working Knowledge (level C) of English
  • National of Zimbabwe

Technical Skills

  • UN driving experience and knowledge of UN administrative rules and procedures is an added advantage
