Department Description

The CIB Market Operation Transformation Group is a dedicated team of project resources that are focused on delivering large scale change initiatives that span across business units to address Business, Industry and Client requirements across the CIB organization. The group provides a unique mix of project skills and product experience that are not tied to a specific business unit enabling it to provide a consistent, high-quality and responsive approach to the way we manage and execute change across the Corporate & Investment Bank.

The Team

Within the Transformation team there are a number of Core Strategic programmes which are CIB wide, cannot fail, fixed deadlines initiatives which have an extremely high profile within the organisation. Example of this is the Credit Athena implementation.

Athena is a strategic platform for processing and risk managing securities and derivatives in the Investment Bank. It is currently used by the Rates, FX and Commodities businesses globally. It is responsible for product modelling, trade capture, risk, event and position management, providing the books and records to the bank for trades and feeding downstream back office systems such as accounting, settlements, legal documentation and regulatory reporting. The products managed on this platform range from high volume listed and flow derivative products to extremely complex over-the-counter structured and securitized derivatives.

The Role

Athena is impacting a wide array of systems and stakeholders. As such, there will be frequent interactions with Trading, Sales and Business Management, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Technology, Quantitative Research, Credit / Market Risk and Finance. The role will expose the individual to a variety of functions and Subject Matter Experts within the Bank and as such they will need to able to learn quickly and build relationships at all levels.

As part of the Rates Athena Projects team, the successful Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Be responsible for the implementation of projects and workstream within the rates Athena program
  • Perform analysis of process, flows, data and components
  • Being able to perform data analysis using BI tools like Tableau, Alteryx, etc.
  • Define requirements and prioritize requirements alongside the business
  • Manage the delivery and implementation through testing and reconciliation break resolution
  • Partnering closely with the Rates Business, Business Management, Technology, Operations and Finance.
  • Tracking progress of deliveries and providing senior management regular updates in PowerPoint presentations
  • Manage weekly project lead calls and escalate issues to management in timely manner
  • Comfortable with managing senior stakeholders and providing succinct updates in various PWG, PCC, Steering committees.

Experience

  • Some experience in managing large scale, large change management programmes
  • 5 years + within the Investment Banking Sector, preferably in Tier 1 banks or consulting
  • Background in Technology or Operations/finance Change

Generic Skills

  • Logical and structured approach to planning and problem solving and decision-making
  • Very strong analytical, prioritisation and organisational skills
  • Self-starter, and able to extract the sub components of an high level ask
  • Ability to communicate confidently and influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Good MS Office skills – Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Risk and controls awareness.
  • Capacity to think laterally and convey an understanding of the big picture
