ABOUT VIDERE

Videre is a fast-growing, international human rights charity that maximizes the power of technology to achieve justice. We give local actors the equipment, training and support needed to safely gather verified video evidence of human rights violations and effectively distribute it to those who can create change. As a result of our actions, perpetrators have been brought to trial and their means of oppression exposed to millions of viewers worldwide.

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a key role for one of Videre’s projects in South East Asia and closely linked with a wider organisation. You will have a proven track record of designing and delivering outstanding trainings, and will be an expert facilitator. You will be responsible for the effective design, creation and evaluation of a diverse range of training; as well as providing ongoing support and guidance to trainers and activists. You will work within the Programming and Operations Team.

Reporting to: Project Manager

Key relationships: Senior Director of Programming and Operations and Project Senior Trainer

Location: Remote working – preference for people operating in times zones between GMT -1 to GMT +8

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per calendar year (or equivalent based on location)

Duration: Two-year contract with possibility of extension

Please note that we work in challenging environments. As part of this role you will occasionally be required to deal with urgent problems outside of office hours. You will ensure that trainers and other staff have the support and resources they need to do their work well. You will also encounter and deal occasionally with sensitive and potentially traumatic situations and realities. In turn, you will be provided with the support and training needed to do this work by a small but dedicated international team.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead on global learning and training designed to engage all staff and activists with inspirational, collaborative and innovative learning opportunities.
  • Oversee and manage field-based and internal training production, development, and delivery, by coordinating cross-departmental expertise to build and improve capacity, learning and skills.
  • Design and maintain a systematized repository of training modules created for project-based staff and activists.
  • Facilitate, design and advise internal trainings as appropriate with the aim to also develop training capacity within the organisation.
  • Work with the leadership team to realize and unlock all of our staff and activists talents and identify needs for new training to help drive a culture of learning and development.
  • Lead on developing innovative approaches to expand, adapt and improve training resources.
  • Manage Videre’s internal knowledge by ensuring that training resources and processes are regularly written, updated, and accessible and used.
  • Assess the efficacy of training and work reflectively to integrate learning into future trainings.
  • Support the Project Manager and Senior Trainer to ensure that all direct partner support and training activity complies with Videre’s global standards and protocols.
  • Liaise with the Senior Trainer to provide guidance and support in the design, creation, updating and collection of training modules.
  • Undertake other duties which may be reasonably required in the position and contribute to wider activity and the overall success of the project.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • Proven work experience as a Training Manager or similar role.
  • Track record in designing and executing successful training programs.
  • Thorough understanding of training processes and modes of learning.
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
  • Extensive experience of designing and delivering bespoke, innovative and participatory trainings to diverse groups both remotely and in person.
  • A good facilitator able to tend to the needs of a group holistically and confidently.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in IT tools, digital security, secure communications and privacy tools.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; excellent written and spoken communication.
  • Strong people management skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with staff across different regions as part of a global team; ability to work across cultures and time zones.
  • Sensitivity and respect for differences in race, ethnicity, gender, disability, age, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression.
  • A great team player with the ability to work alone; flexible, creative and calm under pressure.
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making ability to resolve problems quickly and carefully under pressure in situations of uncertainty.
  • Integrity, and support of the organization’s values, ethical standards, vision, mission and strategic goals.

Preferred

  • At least five years professional experience working in the field of human rights, humanitarian, international development, or similar field.
  • Desirable certificate in Training & Facilitation, Training Management or similar.
  • Experience working in delicate environments and sensitive to the logistical and security challenges that this entails.
