Position Summary

ICAP at Columbia University’s Targeted Programmatic Support Across Countries under the Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria under PEPFAR (PSA) is a program that provides technical assistance (TA) and capacity-building support to the Department of Health, in collaboration with key stakeholders and local partners in Central Visayas (VII) and Western Visayas (VI) Regions of the Philippines.

Under the direction of the Country Director and ICAP Country Support Team, the Training Coordinator will be responsible for providing expertise in developing capacity development and training courses, training materials, including work integrated learning, field training and mentoring. S/he will work with the Technical Advisors to implement a range of capacity development interventions to strengthen skills of Master Trainers, Outreach Team Leaders and Community Health Workers. S/he will be part of the team responsible for training and capacity development of health care workers at supported facilities and community-based organizations (CBOs), including Medical Doctors, Medical Technologists, Case Managers, Peer Navigators, PrEP champions etc.

Responsibilities

  • The training coordinator will oversee, facilitate and support clinical and health education training in the field of TB, HIV, STI and primary health care in close collaboration with Department of Health and partners.
  • Ensure training material is suitable to the audience, the context and relevant health regulations and protocols
  • Training of facilitators/trainers and mentoring in assessment facilitation and training.
  • Provide technical advise, supportive supervision, mentoring and effective monitoring and evaluation related to the design and organization of the training and capacity development events.
  • Provide effective coordination for all training and capacity development activities, including best practices and knowledge management.
  • Facilitate development of the lessons learned, best practices and knowledge management relevant to the capacity development and training activities.
  • Support the development of monitoring and evaluation plan, tools, and reports to evaluate the quality, timely completion and impact and success of the training sessions.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health or Education or any other degree/diploma related to Training and Capacity Development and Community Development
  • At least 5 to 10 years’ relevant experience in the health sector
  • Appropriate experience in the field of HIV/TB and STI.
  • Demonstrated experience in train the trainer/facilitator, curriculum development, and other training capacities within health, capacity development and mentoring.
  • Experience in learning course development based on Adult Education techniques and principles.
  • Experience and knowledge of curriculum development and accreditation of learning programmes and curricula.
  • Proven track record of the application of Adult Education Principles within training capacity development initiatives.
  • 5 years experience in development work in the non-profit sector, 2 of which are specifically in Organization Development or capacity development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including working in a large team, giving, receiving feedback, timely communication and problem solving.
  • Ability to work under pressure and yet deliver effectively.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Filipino

Travel Requirements:

  • Domestic travels to project sites/partners as needed
