Your Challenge

War Child intends to scale its evidence-based interventions and methodologies in Ukraine through local partners. We are looking for a Trainer to embed training capacity into Ukrainian partners network by delivering training or services related to War Child products, i.e. Evidence-Based Methodologies (EBMs) in the areas of mental health and psycho-social support (MHPSS), child protection and education. The main purpose of the role is to train EBMs in the country, while also provide ongoing support to partners throughout the implementation process.

The Trainer will be part of the War Child’s Ukraine response team. The role is based in Kyiv, Ukraine, with regular in-country travel. The Trainer works closely with the team of Regional Technical Advisors and is supervised by the Country Representative – Ukraine.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead in developing a training strategy and implementation plans based on the needs of the partners and existing capability gaps to build capacity within partners network.
  • Contribute to clear, concise, contextualized and quality training content and materials development, including manuals, videos, presentations, and online resources.
  • Conduct Training of Trainers (ToT) programs by identifying relevant trainers within partners network and support potential trainers with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver effective training.
  • Train partners by providing initial training to ensure partners have a strong foundation in the subject matter. This may include in-person workshops, webinars, or e-learning modules.
  • Monitor the EBM implementation according to the implementation plan and specific requirements per activity and provide coaching and mentoring to the trained participants;
  • Actively support the process of EBIs/EBMs scaling, in line with War Child’s country strategy and operational model.
  • Support War Child and partners in the design and development of funding proposals relevant to EBMs.
  • In coordination with, and guidance from War Child Technical Advisors, represent War Child in relevant forums and working groups.
  • Support the facilitation of communities of practice (CoP) around EBMs with the ultimate goal of making these interventions and methodologies sustainable.
  • Coordinate the sharing of experiences of implementing EBMs, its best practice, and adoption of lessons learned across partners and stakeholders.

Your Profile

  • Affinity with War Child’s mandate, values and mission
  • Sufficient knowledge and expertise in the MHPSS field;
  • Training and certification in instructional design, training methodologies, or coaching (e.g. a Certified Professional Trainer (CPT) certification);
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Trainer must be able to convey information clearly and effectively, adapt his/her communication style to the audience, and facilitate discussions;
  • Excellent presentation skills. Ability to deliver engaging and interactive presentations. Proficiency in public speaking;
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to establish rapport with trainees, be approachable, provide constructive feedback, and work well with diverse groups;
  • Proven adaptability and flexibility to the needs of different learners and audiences;
  • Strong organizational skills with regards to coordinating schedules, materials, and resources;
  • Proficiency in using various technologies, learning management systems, and software tools;
  • Proven evaluation and assessment skills to assess training programs effectiveness and make improvements based on feedback and evaluation results;
  • Demonstrated work experience as a trainer, teacher or educator. This can include both formal classroom teaching and practical experience in the subject matter;
  • Cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity of an audience.
  • Proficiency in English and Ukrainian language is essential.

Important Note: This position is to be based in Kyiv, Ukraine. Other locations within Ukraine could also be considered. The successful candidate must have the right to work in Ukraine. Please note, this role is subject to funding.

Our offer

  • Local contract with salary and secondary labour conditions based on the in-country salary scale, local T&C’s will apply. Initially the contract will be via a consultancy agreement through December 31, 2024 with the possibility of extension.
