BACKGROUND:
IMPACT – Civil Society Research and Development e.V. , founded in Berlin in 2013, is a non-profit civil
society organization with offices in Iraq, Turkey and Syria. Civil society support is the core of IMPACT’s
mission through long-term and balanced support to individuals and organizations in the conflict and
developed countries. IMPACT main areas of intervention is capacity building, research, peace building and
diaspora engagement.

PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The overall objective of this training is to provide organizations with comprehensive guidance and
expertise in effective proposal writing to enhance their capacity for successful project acquisition and
implementation. The training will delve into essential elements such as project design, needs assessment,
logical framework development, and impact measurement. Participants will gain practical insights into
tailoring proposals to specific donors, articulating compelling narratives, and aligning projects with the
strategic goals of funding entities. The emphasis will be on building the proficiency of organizations in
constructing persuasive and well-structured proposals that not only secure project support but also
contribute to the sustained growth and impact of their initiatives.

SCOPE OF WORK:
The assignment involves conducting 3-day training workshops on proposal writing and fundraising. The
workshop is designed to equip participating organizations with a thorough understanding of the concept
of proposals writing.
The consultant will be responsible for preparing and implementing a 3-day training workshop on writing
financial proposals for development projects. The training is targeted towards civil society organizations
participating in the incubation project in the Jazeera region, northeast Syria. Additionally, the consultant
will be tasked with preparing a report on the training, including an evaluation, documentation of lessons
learned, and recommendations. Technical support sessions will also be conducted to assist partner
organizations in developing financial proposals for their projects.
Additionally, the consultant will be tasked with facilitating several follow-up sessions with the trainees
within a two-month period following the workshop. The training is aimed to achieve following objectives:

  1. The primary objective of this assignment is to enhance the proposal writing skills of
    participating civil society organizations. The consultant will focus on equipping
    organizations with comprehensive knowledge and practical tools to effectively articulate
    project proposals for development initiatives.
  2. To strengthen the capacity of participating organizations in developing financial proposals
    for their development projects. The consultant will guide organizations in understanding the intricacies of financial planning and proposal writing, ensuring they can construct
    compelling narratives with well-defined budgetary components.
  3. Ensure Post-Training Sustainability: The assignment aims to ensure the sustainability of
    the training impact by conducting follow-up sessions within a two-month period. These
    sessions, facilitated by the consultant, will provide ongoing support to trainees,
    addressing any challenges faced in implementing the learned skills. The goal is to
    reinforce the acquired knowledge and facilitate its practical application in the
    organizations’ proposal writing endeavors.

METHODOLOGY:

  • Deliver using a blended learning approach and might consist of presentations, interactive sessions of practical exercise and group works.
  • Practical sessions using individual or group exercises will be given to participants after each session to make sure that they can apply what they have learnt into practice immediately.
  • Participatory training methods such as brainstorming, simulation, group discussion and case analysis.

KEY DELIVERABLES:

  1. Development of training content and materials in Arabic.
  2. Work with local co-facilitators to ensure smooth training delivery.
  3. Conducting pre-training assessments.
  4. Facilitation of interactive training sessions.
  5. Review participants developed product.
  6. Post-training follow-up and action plans.
  7. Comprehensive training report submitted within an agreed timeframe.

LOCATION:
The training will be online over Google Meet or Zoom platforms.

TIMEFRAME:
This is a short-term assignment for individual consultants for a period of 2 months
between 15 March 2024 to 15 May 2024. The training workshop expected to be
conducted from March 17th to March 19th.
The workload is estimated to encompass 6-8 days, including 4 days dedicated to training
delivery.. This covers the preparation of materials, receiving and incorporating feedback
from the IMPACT team, as well as conducting pre- and post-training assessments,
reviewing participants’ products and follow-up sessions. Additionally we expect
conducting 20 technical/follow-up sessions approximately.

DUITES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The trainer/consultant/resource person will:

  1. Sign with IMPACT a consultancy agreement.
  2. Discuss and agree with IMPACT on the final training package, content and
    deliverables.
  3. Design an appropriate process of the training leading to the desired results.
  4. Propose on the most appropriate training methodology for effective delivery of
    the assignment.
  5. Device the tools required for each session of the training.
  6. Satisfactorily facilitate the training sessions and ensure active engagement of all
    the participants.
  7. Share relevant training materials and provide any resource materials for further
    reading and reference by trained staff.
  8. Design a questionnaire for pre and post-test (to be used before and after the
    workshop) for workshops to gauge the level of understanding of the participants
    about the topics discussed in the training workshop. Compile and submit quality
    training report (one soft copy)

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:
The resource person/consultant should possess following qualifications and
expertise:

  1. An advanced degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related fields
    is preferable.
  2. Proven experience in conducting similar trainings, preferably in conflict or post-conflict
    regions.
  3. Excellent command of Arabic and English.
  4. Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills.

TECHINCAL PROPOSAL:
The technical proposal should include but not limited to the following information:

  1. A brief outline of recent experience and client references in carrying out assignments of
    similar nature (Max. 1 pages)
  2. Detailed description of how the consultant/firm understands and will respond to the ToR
    including an initial training outline and a time frame (for the workshop and coaching
    sessions)
  3. Curriculum Vitae of trainer.

FINANCIAL PROPOSAL:
The financial proposal must contain overall quotation in USD for all the services to be
provided and must follow the following:

  1. Summary of the total costs for the services proposed.
  2. An itemized breakdown of the costs associated with each training day and each follow-up session.
  3. Any taxes if applicable.

PROPOSED PAYMENT SCHEDULE:
100% of the payment will be released to the trainer after completing the training.
