Baan Dek Foundation (BDF) is a non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization based in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. BDF supports access to essential services for more than 2,000 vulnerable children and their families living in construction sites and urban slums every year. Through tailored educational programs and flexible individual support, BDF protects at-risk children and enables families to become self-sustainable to provide opportunities for a better future.

BaanDek foundation developed a framework for action, a set of 12 recommendations, and a tool kit to support construction companies in the adoption of better practices in construction camps toward safety and access to services for children living in construction camps.

Through the launch of the Building Social Impact (BSI) initiative, BaanDek is looking at a wide adoption of the Framework for action and tools. To that end, we propose to construction companies a range of training to facilitate adoption and implementation of the BSI Framework.

Job Description:

Job Title: Trainer and Advisor

Type of Contract: Full-time employment position for 1 Year (with possibility of extension)

Department: Systemic Impact department

Location: Bangkok, Thailand

Expected Start Date: February 2023

Responsibilities of the advertised position:

The Trainer and Advisor will be in charge of training key staff of construction companies on the use of the BSI tools. She/He will provide follow up technical support to the construction camp bosses and camp managers for the implementation of the company action plan.

Role and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Improve existing training material and develop new ones to respond to company needs.
  • Deliver the BSI training package to construction company relevant staff
  • Support the camp bosses of the companies to link with key service providers such as schools, health centers, and other NGOs.
  • Propose solutions to the camp boss to overcome challenges faced to grant access to essential services to children living in camps.
  • Engage service providers to ease the access of children living in camps to essential services such as education and health
  • Monitor progress of the company toward their action plan to improve wellbeing of children in camps and access to services.
  • Collect data in the construction camps for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Identify and communicate to the Systemic impact team challenges faced with companies or service providers and participate in a lesson learnt process.

Other:

  • Support in the promotion of a constructive and productive working environment among the team. Actively support information sharing, transparency, and dialogue among the staff and partners.
  • Support the Management Team in day-to-day missions and projects. The Intern shall observe the organization’s values and objectives and will commit to facilitate all procedures and field activities to ensure the sound management of Baan Dek Foundation’s programs

Education

  • Graduate qualifications (or a combination of undergraduate and relevant work experience) in a related discipline – health and safety in construction sector, training, social and community development, social work, social sciences, education, law or a similar discipline

Qualifications – Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of working experience including 3 years demonstrated experience as trainer, trainer of trainers
  • demonstrated experience in developing training modules and training handbooks.
  • Strong interest in human/ child rights based approach and social development,
  • Strong interest in collaboration with the private sector and corporate.
  • Knowledge on SDG’s, ESG’s, social sustainability and incentives for engagement of Private Sector is an asset
  • Experience with non-profit organizations or in the humanitarian sector is an asset

Language requirements: Fluent in thai, good verbal and written proficiency in English

Other skills and competencies:

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate, including experience in a cross-cultural environment and an international setting
  • Stakeholder engagement skills and ability to collaborate effectively, including in cross-cultural or multicultural environments

Working hours: Full time – Monday to Friday with occasional weekend and evenings
