As we continue to expand our full fibre network, we are looking to increase our team of Trainee Field Technicians. Full training will be provided along with a company vehicle and all the tools you need to carry out the role effectively. This is a great opportunity to work with one of the longest-established providers of communications in the UK where you will be provided with all the support you need to learn and develop your skills.

What will I be doing?

As a Trainee Field Technician, you will be involved with our full fibre expansion, installation, building and maintaining services to end-user customers. In line with contracted agreements and to the highest possible standards of customer satisfaction.

Some Of Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Shadow existing Field Technicians within TSO team to develop the necessary skills prior to singleton working in the field
  • Successfully complete overhead working, and Health and Safety training provided during probationary period
  • Prove competence in all areas of NGA engineering activities to enable successful completion of NGA Quality assessments.
  • Comply with all IBMS requirements as detailed in the KCOM policies, ISO certifications, industry standards, legal & regulatory obligations and other related company arrangements and procedures.
  • Complete ongoing training and development, in order to meet business demand and comply with Health and Safety Standards

In addition to the above after full training has been completed you will need to demonstrate competence in the following areas to progress from a Trainee to a Field Technician

  • Respond to Customers needing assistance as directed by the Resource Control Team to fix the fault and/or implement a workaround solution within the contracted timeframe
  • Proactively carry out provision/repair and preventative maintenance across the Fibre/Copper network to maximise customer system availability and performance
  • Remain focused on quality by using own expertise to make suggestions for solutions to increase and achieve targets. Contributing to a reduction in fault volumes, year on year
  • Maintain agreed productivity levels in order to meet customer

  • Contribute to the overall improvement of Field Operations through the identification, championing and implementation of new ideas and better ways of working.

We Are Looking For Individuals Who Have

  • A full, valid UK driving licence
  • Good use of hand tools
  • Strong work ethic
  • Good communication skills with friendly and approachable manner
  • An open, enthusiastic, and positive approach
  • The ability to work within a team
  • The understanding that the customer always comes first and ensure they receive the best possible service
  • Experience of ground works i.e. landscaping, construction work, civils.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of a telecommunications network
  • Experience of using hand tools
