SRF offers a diverse work culture and collaborative environment to learn and grow in your career. We are seeking an intern to join our successful Traffic Engineering Design Group. This group is responsible for traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking design, work zone traffic control and detour plans, intersection control evaluations, and transportation management plans. The chosen candidate will work up to 40 hours per week during the summer and/or part-time hours during the school year. Please note the internship will require working onsite at the Minneapolis office. This position provides a great opportunity to be familiar with industry standard traffic engineering practice and expand your coursework knowledge to real life projects. You will be paired with one/more senior member in the group to assist in different projects which not only will help you to develop your technical skills but also to build internal connections and network. Responsibilities Conceptual, preliminary, and final design task Intersection control evaluations Signal and roundabout justification reports Traffic signal design tasks Signing and pavement markings design Work zone traffic control Detour signing Asset management Data collection and processing Qualifications Current enrollment in a civil engineering program or closely related field Excellent verbal/written communication skills Students with 1-3 semesters remaining to complete their engineering degree are desired / preferred Strong analytical skills and technical writing ability Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills Ability to thrive within a cooperative team atmosphere Proficiency in several computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and experience with the following traffic engineering software a plus (Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, RODEL, SignCAD, MicroStation, AutoCAD) Passion for emerging transportation technologies and trends, as well as multimodal transportation including car, pedestrian, bicycle, and transit modes is a plus Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position.
