The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year. There are good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany.

Welthungerhilfe’s ToGETHER programme (Towards Greater Effectiveness and Timeliness in Humanitarian Emergency Response) promotes the localisation of humanitarian action. Within this programme, 40 local, national non-governmental organisations from 8 different countries (Bangladesh, Myanmar, Ethiopia, DR Congo, Pakistan, Indonesia, Somalia and Columbia) and four international organisations from Germany work in close collaboration. As ToGETHER Assistant Social Media & Communications, you will support Welthungerhilfe’s Programme Management Unit (PMU) and contribute your expertise in social media and communications.

Your responsibilities

  • Under the overall responsibility of the ToGETHER Program Coordination: Set up and maintain the ToGETHER Program’s social media and website presence, create communication materials and take on incidental assistance activities in the planning and preparation of international meetings, events, conferences, and other activities

  • Community management of the organization’s social media channels (such as Instagram, Twitter, YouTube) in accordance with Welthungerhilfe’s privacy and security requirements for IT systems

  • Support the development, planning and implementation of social media campaigns and content series, including support for events (stories) in coordination with Welthungerhilfe’s Communications unit and the social media team

  • Exchange with and support of the country teams on social media relevant topics

  • Collection and processing of information and communication contributions from the eight country teams and the PMU

  • Creation of informational materials and presentations to support ToGETHER communications

  • Creation, communication and maintenance of content and wikis on the digital platform “ToGETHER Webmo” as well as on the Welthungerhilfe website

  • Participation in and taking minutes of meetings, working groups, conferences and other dialogue formats

  • Preparation of international events and conferences, including travel arrangements, visa matters, event organization, (simultaneous) translations, etc.

  • Coordination with the Communications and Social Media teams at Head Office on overarching communication topics

Your profile

  • A university/polytechnic degree or comparable job-relevant training/professional experience

  • Profound professional experience in the areas of social media and community management

  • International experience and general work experience in the field of humanitarian aid is a plus

  • Affinity for social media and new digital trends

  • Strong skills to operate, communicate and cooperate in a social environment and to act in a goal-oriented manner in social interaction situations

  • Very good communication skills, incl. enjoyment of creative texting and exchanges with international partners and other stakeholders on Instagram & Co.

  • Strong intercultural skills as well as willingness and ability to work in a team in a multinational environment, taking into account the specifics of other cultures and their contexts

  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills; French and/or Spanish language skills are an advantage
