Tobacco Reduction Programme Manager
We are very pleased to be in a position to advertise the role of Tobacco Reduction Programme Manager at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. This role will be instrumental in developing a sustainable tobacco reduction programme in the organisation which comprises of acute, mental health and community services.
This role will require an individual who is organised, persuasive and determined alongside a passion for reducing the harm caused by tobacco.
You will sit within a senior clinical team who are engaged and supportive of this programme and actively engage with our public health colleagues in Somerset. Somerset NHS Foundation Trust focuses on quality improvement. A well established improvement team can provide project support and awareness of the latest Quality Improvement initiatives.
The post holder will be responsible for leading on a programme of work to systematise the treatment of tobacco dependency across the NHS and support a wider Smokefree agenda for Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. This will require a high level of initiative and resourcefulness to manage change, develop relationships and introduce new systems and pathways.
Main duties of the job
- Lead the development and project management of the implementation of the QUIT Programme in the Trust.
- Provide leadership to promote culture change in relation to treating tobacco dependency and minimizing harm from tobacco.
- Lead the implementation of smoke free environments within the Trust grounds and advise on the provision of support to promote staff health and wellbeing.
- Provide expert advice to clinical and other colleagues throughout the Trust.
- Working at a strategic level, the post holder will be responsible for making recommendations, developing strategies and programmes and ensuring the delivery of best practice interventions for health improvement and illness prevention in patients, carers, visitors and staff.
- Develop policies, procedures and clinical guidelines reflective of the Trusts needs in relation to national policy.
- Ensure implementation of treating tobacco dependency programmes requirements.
- Provide regular briefings and updates on the QUIT programmes progress to the Trust’s QUIT Executive Sponsor and Clinical Leads.
- Through monitoring and evaluation, ensure robust data collection and data analysis to inform of the programme progress.
- Support the Trust to become a health promoting organisation, have healthy NHS premises and to contribute to a reduction in health inequalities.
- Engage with internal, local, regional and national stakeholders on issues affecting health and well-being, and the priority areas identified within the NHS Long Term Plan.
