Location: Turkey/Gaziantep, with possibilities of trips to Northwest Syria and abroad.
Project Name: Upskilling and Future-proofing human resources for health and enhancing health governance for Universal health coverage and better-quality care —UFUQ.
Project Duration: 46 Months.
Gross Salary: 2345 Euro.

The UFUQ project is led by THET in collaboration with the Syrian Development Center (SDC).
The project is strategically designed to uplift the health conditions of the Syrian population. It addresses critical elements of health workforce management and medical education in North West Syria, aiming for a transformative impact on health outcomes in the region.

Responsibilities:

The In-Country Support for the Programme, reporting to the In-Country Representative, will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Assist in formulating, implementing, and monitoring the UFUQ project’s in-country implementation plan.
  • Actively contribute to the execution of the implementation plan in alignment with UFUQ project goals.
  • Collaborate closely with technical partners, contractors, and consultants involved in the UFUQ project.
  • Ensure effective coordination with the In-Country Support for Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) to align with UFUQ project indicators and outcomes.
  • Ensure effective coordination with the In-Country Support for Logistics and Procurements to align with UFUQ project implementation plan.
  • Provide oversight and support to the In-Country Support for Logistics and Procurements, ensuring all logistics and procurements align with UFUQ project objectives.
  • Facilitate and promote key relationships between THET, SBOMS, and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring alignment with UFUQ project objectives.
  • Represent THET at meetings with key stakeholders, participating in working groups/steering committees to advance UFUQ project activities.
  • Contribute to the coordination of in-country logistics for stakeholders and project team members, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Play a role in the procurement process related to UFUQ project in-country activities, adhering to project guidelines.
  • Proactively address logistical challenges to ensure the UFUQ project’s seamless running.
  • Provide valuable inputs to the development and execution of trips from the UK to Gaziantep and vice versa, when appropriate, aligning with UFUQ project objectives.

Requirements:

  • Recent experience in liaising with health sector stakeholders in NW Syria.
  • Strong project management experience in the health sector in NW Syria.
  • Experience working in a senior position in an INGO context.
  • Previous experience in partnership building to promote capacity building.
  • Experience managing security and risk in an INGO context
  • Knowledge or experience in medical education is desired.
  • Degree-level education (Public health or related discipline preferred).
  • Analytical skills and demonstrable ability to think strategically.
  • Excellent representational, written, and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Proven financial skills (budget preparation and monitoring).
  • Organisational and administrative skills with sound IT skills (Word and Excel).
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work independently in a small organisation and in a complex environment.
