Project Title: Strengthening the resilience and nutrition well-being of communities in Amudat and Nakapiripirit (SRNAN-Project).

Project Description

SNRAN Project aims at strengthening food security, nutrition and resilience of communities in Amudat and Nakapiripirit. Objective 1, Output 1.2 1584 vulnerable households in Amudat and Nakapiripirit acquire agricultural skills and capacity. The training will be conducted by ACTED technical staff and lead farmers in all project sites in Moruita sub-county in Nakapiripirit district and Amudat sub-county in Amudat District.

Main objective: To strengthen food security, nutrition and resilience of vulnerable households in Nakapiripirit and Amudat. ACTED and Food for the Hungry (FH) will achieve this through realisation of the following two specific objectives.

Specific Objective 1: To improve food security for 1,584 Vulnerable households in Amudat and Nakapiripirit

Specific Objective 2: To enhance prevention of stunting and undernutrition and increase access to appropriate treatment of malnutrition focusing on the first 1000 days of life through targeted Maternal Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN) Interventions

Objectives of the assignment, roles and responsibilities of the consultant

The overall objective of this consultancy is to design Permagraden 3-Day Training Guidelines (second editions) into pictorial to enhance better understanding of the of the training.

Specific objectives

1. Review the Permagarden 3-Day training guidelines and Permagarden Technical Manual

Permagargen 3-Daty Training Guidelines and Permagarden technical manuals are the available training resources developed by TOPS with support from USAID. The manuals are widely used for training of TOT and Farmers best agricultural practices. The review of these manual will enhance the understanding of the content in the materials.

2. Design the training manual into pictorial

Pictorial and visual aids enhance better understanding of knowledge transfer among adults and persons with low literacy level. Following the review of the manuals, the consultant will design the training material into the best pictorial that describe the main content currently contained in the materials. This will also enhance more participatory approach during trainings

Produce pictorial aids illustrating each of 9 modules of perma-garden training

Design of at least 5 pictorials per module illustrating key concepts. The pictorials should be printable in the form of A4 handouts or booklets.

Note:

Skills and experience

The consultant or the consulting firm must have a varied mix of skills and competencies and must have undertaken similar works in East Africa in the last 5 years. Experience in Uganda will be an advantage.

  • Proven track record of developing pictorial aids and visual materials for training curricula
  • Proven track record in developing training materials for low-literacy participants
  • A proven track record in develop materials relating to agriculture would be an advantage
  • A qualification in Education, Agriculture, and or Art/Graphic design would be an advantage
  • Fluency in English

  • Profile of consultant/organisation
  • Evidence of previous experience in developing and delivering outputs of a similar nature
  • Ethics and safeguarding approaches, including any identified risks and associated mitigation strategies
  • A proposed timeframe detailing activity and a schedule/work plan
  • Team composition and level of effort of each proposed team member.

  • Itemized consultancy fees/costs.
  • Itemized administrative expenses if any
  • Expected payment plan and method.
