Chemonics seeks a technical writer and editor for the ongoing USAID Frontier Health Markets Engage project in India. The purpose of this assignment is to provide technical writing and editing services for the FHM Engage India project. The consultant will be responsible for technical editing and writing, as needed, project’s deliverables and external communications pieces for style, content, grammar, organization of material, and ensuring that the information is presented in an informative and readable manner. This position will be based in New Delhi, India. The expected consultancy daily rate range would be between USD 200-300. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide high-quality writing and editing services for FHM Engage India’s technical and communications materials, including technical deliverables, success stories, factsheets, website articles, and outreach materials. This includes editing of documents, as needed, for content, organization, grammar, structure, and style, and incorporating illustrations and illustrative information as needed.
  • Work with Chief of Party and technical staff to ensure consistency and accuracy of content, style and text.
  • Follow up with prospective partners on documenting the discussions around workplan activities and framing for periodic reporting to client and development of workplan
  • Work with technical leads to lead quarterly exercises to elicit lessons learned and track inputs, outputs, outcomes and impact and link to the project’s theory of change and ensure success stories are completed and of excellent quality.
  • Develop the background analysis and contextual framing and integrate with deliverable reporting or work plan sections.
  • Assist technical leads in compiling and completing quarterly and annual reports, highlighting key achievements, lessons learned and challenges.
  • Work closely with FHM Engage’s Senior Communications Specialist to ensure that materials comply with client and project standards for writing, design, style, and format.
  • Help establish, maintain, and promote quality standards for all FHM Engage India written materials, including writing, editing, style, format, design, and production. This includes regularly communicating with technical staff, interviewing beneficiaries, and working with project partners to generate content for sharing project successes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, or journalism. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of writing and editing experience on USAID projects.
  • Proven record of excellent writing demonstrated in a professional portfolio,
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to solve problems creatively, multitask, and work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience in international development and understanding and knowledge of USAID is essential.
  • Proficiency in basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in English.
