Technical Wrangler – Render Farm

Ingenuity Studios is seeking a full-time technical wrangler to support the studio’s rendering pipeline and help improve the effectiveness of the rendering process.

This position focuses on resolving daily issues as well as working with artists and supervisors to help optimize the render workflows. You will be a great fit if you are a VFX artist with a desire to evolve in a more technical way. A problem solver at heart, you know the intricacies of your favorite software, and you have a passion for optimizing scenes.

Core Responsibilities

• Investigate and troubleshoot day-to-day problems and issues on the farm.
• Manage the hardware and facilitation of workers to ensure full farm utilization.
• Help optimize artists’ scenes from digital content creation software to render successfully and to maximize efficiency on the farm.
• Identify technical issues from tickets and address them directly or work with the Pipeline team to resolve them.
• Interact with production department to coordinate node distribution and priorities to meet deadlines.

Interest-Driven Responsibilities

• Debug and repair shots and scenes related to asset creation, shot assembly, lighting, rendering, and other disciplines.
• Develop and maintain tools to address recurring issues.
• Generate reports regarding render and studio statistics.

Requirements

• Experience debugging other users’ scene files and renders
• Ability to troubleshoot and work independently on projects without supervision
• Thorough understanding of the various technical and creative aspects of VFX production

Nice-to-Have

• Basic Python scripting skills
• Experience with Deadline preferred
• Understanding of common VFX artist packages
