Technical Support Analyst (Northern Ireland)

Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer and the company’s site at Oxford Airport is Britain’s civil helicopter hub.

AHUK offers considerable experience in helicopter sales, bespoke completions, maintenance and spares support. Its in-house engineering capabilities include design, customisation, installation, flight-testing and certification, as well as technical support, maintenance, training and the supply of spares for civil and military applications.

AHUK is the MoD’s chosen provider of helicopters and maintenance for its No. 1 Flying Training School (1 FTS) located in RAF Shawbury (Shropshire) and RAF Valley (Anglesey). 1 FTS trains aircrew for the Royal Navy, British Army and the Royal Air Force. Previously the Defence Helicopter Flying School, the school was rebadged to 1 FTS in February 2020. 1 FTS sits within the UK Military Flying Training System, a public-private partnership providing flying training for all UK Military aircrews.

In October 2021 the H135 was selected by the MoD to replace the ageing Gazelle’s fleet. In March 2022 AHUK will appointed the service provider of a maintenance and availability support solution for the new fleet. AHUK will be levering on its success in providing a similar service under the MFTS contract.

Description/Overall Purpose Of The Job

• To undertake technical activities concerning the installation and support of computer and related equipment, ensuring the smooth running of the company’s business with the minimum of disruption.
• Provide immediate support for the local site and also support other AHUK office as required.
• Key Duties:
• Face to face, telephone and email support
• Purchase, Configure, install and maintain desktop and laptop PCs
• Support of Telephone Systems
• Configuration of telephone handsets
• Support of audio visual equipment, projectors and Video Conference facilities
• Manage the resolution of issues, problems, service requests and changes via the AHUK Helpdesk tool
• Audit of computers to ensure all software is authorised and licensed
• Maintain an inventory/database of IT hardware and software
• Liaise with third party IT support Companies and vendors
• Support Other AHUK Offices as required

Knowledge And Skills

• Strong expertise in supporting Windows based PC’s and Servers
• Windows Desktop (Enterprise)
• Windows Server
• MS Office & MS Products
• Google G-Suite

Knowledge of the following would be an added benefit:-

Education, Qualifications Or Special Training

While specific educational qualifications are not required, there must be evidence of the ability to learn new skills by illustration of a general academic background and achievement.

• A Qualification in IT is an added benefit

Experience

• Previous experience in an IT support environment using Microsoft Windows

Selection Criteria

Essential

• At least 2 years previous experience in an IT support environment using Microsoft Products and Microsoft Windows
• SC Clearance

Desirable

• Working knowledge of Other Operating Systems
• Experience of working in a similar environment
• Experience working in a secure environment

Additional Requirements

Due to the nature of this position you will require DBS Security Clearance and be eligible for SC clearance. Airbus Helicopters UK will support you with this.

If you have not been a resident for the last 5 consecutive years, please be prepared to request an overseas criminal Records check for these countries as you will be asked to provide this for referencing and security checks.
