Talbot Underwriting Limited is the managing agent of Syndicate 1183 at Lloyd’s. Syndicate 1183 underwrites a number of classes of business including war and terrorism, energy, marine, financial lines, cyber, transport, political risk, crisis management, kidnap & ransom, contingency, property and treaty reinsurance. Talbot has offices in London, Asia Pacific and the United States.

About the role

What you need to know:

  • Lead and manage the Processing Services Premium team
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry for the Overseas offices
  • Generate MI to support the team
  • Manage performance in the team by developing individuals and resolving any negative performance issues
  • Day to day management of Premium technician team processing for the Overseas offices
  • Work with customers to ensure that team are delivering are required service level
  • Monitor aged debt and cash report monthly to check for issues and to help support the accuracy of these reports
  • Monitor queries with the team to ensure that these are being kept up to date and SLAs being adhered to
  • Manage work allocation within the team to ensure SLA is maintained for the Overseas office
  • Continuous process improvement to make the end to end process run smoothly and accurately to cut down on rework.
  • Continuous development of team to ensure that all members of the team are able to grow and increase knowledge of the Overseas office business.
  • Manage premium signings into the syndicate to ensure process is made as efficient and accurate as possible.
  • Review weekly work load for Singapore, LATAM, Miami, Dubai, TURSL and NY and support team to meet SLA requirements
  • Produce weekly and monthly management stats and provide feedback to Manager each week
  • Work with Manager to ensure processes are robust and efficient
  • Manage process changes down into the team to ensure smooth integration
  • Complete fortnightly cash release for Miami, Dubai, TURSL and NY office and allocate LPAN list to ensure timely completion of submissions.
  • Assess training requirements across the team to improve accuracy rates across the team and maintain consistent data entry standards.
  • Carry out Annual appraisals for direct reports, as well as regular 121’s and mid-year check ins.
  • Monitor sickness and approve holidays.
  • Liaise with the Manager if there are any human resource issues

What we’re looking for:

  • Good knowledge of Insurance in the Lloyd’s Market and the classes of business written at Talbot.
  • A Level or equivalent required
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good I.T. Skills.
  • Excellent people and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skills, including:
    • People management
    • Build and maintain effective relationships
    • Ability to understand problems and issues quickly
    • Assertiveness
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team environment.
  • Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
