Job Summary

The incumbent consults and collaborates with the Global Health team and with applicants regarding HSS grants and assists with the management of those grants.

Essential Job Functions

  • In consultation with supervisor, supports in the development of HSS programing, budget decision, understands and can resolve technical issues related to the HSS program, providing grant related capacity building and training of partners as needed.
  • Works with supervisor and Technical Team to accompany partners and help them to develop and monitor their work using the HSS framework: (1) leadership and governance, (2) service delivery, (3) workforce development, (4) health information systems, (5) medical products and technologies, (6) health care financing, (7) community engagement and (8) partnership development
  • Supports the senior Technical Advisors (STAs) with the administration of Health Board Operational and HSS grants, including the review and management of bids, contracts, grant agreements and grant disbursements
  • Makes initial reviews of midterm and, when needed, final reports and with made recommendations to the STA
  • In consultation with supervisor/ Senior Technical Advisor drafts key documents including memoranda of understanding, grant memo’s, summaries and periodic reports, policy documents and communications regarding the HSS program.
  • Uses data from reports, supervisory checklists and facility assessments in collaboration with partners, STA and Technical team to propose evidence-based decisions to the STAs regarding context specific health system/health facility quality improvement plans and provides support for plan implementation as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in public health preferred
  • Two to four years of experience in grants management, preferably in an international context and in a health-related programs.
  • Experience of living or working overseas and/or working in a multi-cultural organization strongly preferred
  • Experience working with a faith-based organization a plus.
  • Experience in international grantmaking and grant seeking required

Major Accountabilities

  • Consults effectively with Partners and the GH team about HSS programming
  • Performs work accurately, with clarity and can offer analysis to help the Partner and their grant to move forward
  • Assesses and assists grantees throughout the grant cycle

The Ideal Candidate

The candidate must be able prioritize well and practice strong attention to detail. Willingness to contribute to team objectives, coordinate, and network among/across teams. Able to develop and maintain effective relationships with key partners. Can research, analyze, and evaluate information. The candidate must also be comfortable using a broad range of communication styles.

Work Hours and Conditions

  • FLSA Status: F/T Exempt
  • Location: Remote
  • Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm (Monday – Friday with flexible start/end time) – Evening and weekend work/meetings as necessary, particularly during peak unit season.
  • May require work outside of standard business hours (to include weekends), particularly during peak unit season.
  • Sedentary office/computer/keyboarding/meeting work for extended periods of time.
  • Travel as required.
