The starting salary package for this position is £78,378 GBP per annum (approx. $97,870 USD) including all allowances

About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. About the CARICOM Programme:

In the Caribbean region, MAG together with IMPACS is building on various assessments already undertaken in the region to provide targeted assistance to states with regard to weapons and ammunition management, policy and advocacy support, and engagement with a wide range of other partners. This innovative programme focuses on safety, security and sustainability, ultimately helping to create the conditions for peace and sustainable development.

About the role:

You will report to the Regional Programme Manager (RPM). The aim of the post will be to implement all aspects of Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA), Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operations and related tasks in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and as directed by the Regional Programme Manager (RPM).

This will include conducting assessments in conjunction with CARICOM IMPACS and in coordinating and providing technical oversight on WAM projects. These may include weapons and munition destruction, design and delivery of PSSM training, and design and oversight of rehabilitation and/or construction of new facilities

In addition, you will support the RPM in ensuring overall safe execution of all MAG technical activities within the countries of operation.

About you:

The successful candidate must have technical knowledge of WAM type activities and operations and a relevant and recognised WAM qualification, or suitable practical experience. You must be able to develop, review and comply with security and technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to contribute technical knowledge and clearance targets to proposals and reports. The postholder will have experience of working in SALW/ PSSM type Operations in developing countries and of managing field operations. You will be experienced in leading, motivating and managing a diverse team of people, and in mentoring and coaching others. You will also have experience of conducting formal or informal training and the transfer of appropriate skills to others. Experience of working independently for extended periods of time in ‘stand-alone’ environments with minimal supervision is also required.

Fluency in English is required. French and/or Spanish skills are appreciated.
