The starting salary package for this position is £68,656 GBP (approx. $87,163 USD) including all allowances

About the Caribbean programme:

In the Caribbean region, MAG together with IMPACS is building on various assessments already undertaken in the region to provide targeted assistance to states with regard to weapons and ammunition management, policy and advocacy support, and engagement with a wide range of other partners. This innovative programme focuses on safety, security and sustainability, ultimately helping to create the conditions for peace and sustainable development.

About the role:

Our Technical Field Managers are the core of our work and actively manage and lead our teams of staff to safely implement our life saving Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) projects.

The aim of the post will be to implement all aspects of Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) and related tasks in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and as directed by the Technical Field Manager – Team Leader (TFM-TL). This will include performing large scale EOD operations across the country, delivery of training to stakeholders, rehabilitation and/or construction of new facilities and monitoring of all staff carrying out technical operations to ensure safe practices and in order to build a local capacity for WAM activities. In addition, you will support the Technical Field Manager – Team Leader (TFM-TL) in ensuring overall safe execution of all MAG technical activities within the country.

About you:

The successful candidate must have experience of working in mine clearance/EOD/SALW operations in developing countries that are contaminated by remnants of conflict. You must be EOD 3 IMAS qualified and have substantial previous experience as EOD operator. You will be experienced in leading, motivating and managing a diverse team of people, and in mentoring and coaching others. You will also have experience of conducting formal or informal training and the transfer of appropriate skills to others. The ability to work autonomously and develop, review and comply with security and technical Standard Operating Procedures is essential. Technical knowledge of two or more of these technical skills areas is essential: EO/SALW/unexploded ordnance, EOD and mine clearance techniques, including new developments.

The postholder will be innovative, proactive, and committed to high quality standards and continually improving effectiveness and efficiency. You will be able to establish and develop effective working relationships at all levels internally and externally and to represent and promote MAG. In addition, you will possess excellent communication, interpersonal, diplomacy and organisation skills, with the ability to plan and coordinate activities and projects. Experience of working independently for extended periods of time in ‘stand-alone’ environments with minimal supervision is required.

Fluency in English is required
