You will be part of the Metaverse Solutions group, the premier organisation for servicing and solving the problems of our metaverse. You will be working alongside experienced game developers familiar with all aspects of the game development lifecycle, including production, art, design, technology and operations. You will be working with notable names from the industry who are our partners and customers. As this is a growing area of Improbable, you will be directly involved in shaping both the technical and commercial direction of how metaverse experiences are developed and launched.

Your Opportunity

  • Being focused on driving the engineering team forward as a single unit
  • Being resposible for consistently delievrly the project as a rapidly updated live service game
  • Own the entire process of software development within a given project.
  • Own the design of our development infrastructure and interface with other groups within Improbable to keep it running smoothly
  • Expected to give and organise consistent and constructive critique on the quality of the code and tools within the game/project.
  • Own the discipline expectations of the software team and ensure they are being delivered upon.
  • Own the overarching delivery plan for software within the game.
  • Drive the team to create consistent, high quality code/tools in industry standard timelines.

Why You’re Made For This

  • Being hands-on with the development itself, experience with C++/Unreal would be preferable
  • Successful history of interaction with other development disciplines as well as experience with building a technology infrastructure that supports multiple disciplines
  • Experienced with managing senior and junior programmers across multiple engineering disciplines (e.g. rendering, gameplay, networking, engine, tools, etc.)
  • Experienced with creating performant, sustainable infrastructures for online games projects and with defining coding standards
  • Experienced with adopting best practices to elevate the reliability (DevOps) and accelerate the delivery of the projects they contribute to. Examples of this includes: Automated and manual testing practices, Documentation, Code review standards and validation of security of maintained components
  • Experience with the need for operating games in a live environment (LiveOps), operating and maintaining online multiplayer games, and understanding gameplay, engine features, and mechanics.
  • Excellent in self-managing workloads through Jira or another tracking methodology.
  • Excellent at collaborating with producers and project managers to create a psychologically safe and constantly learning team and setting of release/milestone goals and objectives for the entire software team.
