PSI seeks a Technical Director for the anticipated $25 million USAID-funded DRC Rural and Peri-Urban Sanitation Activity. The Activity will implement high impact interventions that strengthen sanitation markets to increase sustained access to and use of basic sanitation services. The activity will build sanitation markets through interventions in the areas of sector governance, demand creation, finance, and supply side strengthening. The Activity will prioritize local capacity building, including a transition of implementation responsibilities to local entities.

The Technical Director will oversee and ensure coordination between all major technical components of the project, lead strategy development and technical work planning, and supervise the team responsible for implementation. The Technical Director will serve as a subject matter expert internally and represent the project externally with donors, partners, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Your contributions – Lead development of coordinated technical approach to implementation, ensuring alignment of activities across the technical areas and the implementing partners.

  • Supervise and support technical component leads.
  • Lead development of technical aspects of work plans and reports.
  • Ensure timely and quality delivery of technical milestones and deliverables
  • Collaborate with monitoring and evaluation team to ensure appropriate data collection, entry, and analysis modalities and content and to develop and execute the technical learning agenda.
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships with external stakeholders and partners. Ensure effective collaboration between stakeholders and partners.
  • Represent the project at internal and external meetings technical meetings, conferences, and donor meetings.
  • Build the technical capacity of PSI and partner staff.

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in a related field
  • Master’s degree (or international equivalent) in a related field preferred
  • At least 10 years of related experience. Equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Advanced knowledge in relevant departmental/functional area.
  • Excellent leadership, employee development and management skills. Knowing when to coach, when to advise and when to provide specific direction.
  • Excellent customer service, relationship building/management and consensus building skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Able to proactively identify opportunities, diagnose problems and develop client-centered and evidence-based solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. French and/or Spanish language skills preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be authorized to work in DRC
