The Humanitarian Response Department (HRD) provides leadership and support to CRS emergency programming. The HRD strengthens CRS’ impact through high quality, innovative programs; improved technical and management capacity at the field level; and active engagement in global efforts to promote excellence and learning in humanitarian response. The HRD has technical staff that supports emergency program planning, rapid response, and capacity strengthening of staff and partners worldwide.

NOTE: This is a remote position; CRS will give preference to candidates who are based in countries where we have existing offices. CRS does not sponsor visas for telecommuting employees.)

Job Summary

The TAI for Knowledge Management and Learning (KML) will help to structure and drive a systemic approach for the generation, collection, and curation of knowledge management and learning resources within the HRD. This will allow persons who need these resources to easily access and use them to improve knowledge, skills, systems, and processes, which will enhance the agility and efficiency of the HRD and of our emergency programming.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as KML point person for Humanitarian Response Department (HRD)
  • Ensure easy access to up-to-date internal HRD resources to all HRD team members through leading on the design, access controls and curation of internal HRD Teams and SharePoint sites.
  • Be the primary site owner for HRD MyCRS site, ensuring site is well designed, maintained, and curated. This site is available to all CRS staff.
  • Support the design, management, and curation of resources on the HRD’s external Emergency Field Operations Manual website; includes working with the service provider to ensure site is easily accessible/searchable by stakeholders.
  • Liaise with KML department and ensure HRD – managed sites follow relevant guidance.
  • Assist with documenting and sharing learning – ensure requirements, lessons learned, and best practices for products, events, and other knowledge management activities are clear and documented in line with OverOps KML Framework.
  • Stay abreast of unmet KML needs through regular engagement with HRD team and provide feedback to HRD leadership on pain points.
  • Partner with OverOps KML team to design new KML tools and services, as needed.
  • Reinforce KML protocols and standards within the HRD through trainings, presentations, and representation at key meetings. Provide orientation to staff on basic KML functions and best practices, creating job aids, how to guides, and other presentation content, where applicable.
  • Develop and maintain HRD/emergency programming focused dashboards, as requested – with support from KML Department’s Data Quality and Analytics Advisor and HRD MEAL/IM team, as needed
  • Support development of KML indicators to track progress against KML road map. Provide technical review and feedback on KML products prior to release
  • Support monthly reporting within HRD, as requested

Required Languages – Proficiency (verbal and written) in English and at least one of the following languages: French, Spanish, Arabic.

Travel – Ability to travel domestically and overseas up to 30%.

Work Conditions/Environment Conditions: Willingness and ability to travel overseas as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Library Science, Education, International Development or related field required.
  • Minimum of three years relevant work experience with progressive responsibilities, ideally with an international NGO, with minimum of two years relevant field-based experience related to KML and/or humanitarian response programming.
  • Knowledge of technical principles and concepts in KML. General knowledge of other related disciplines to ensure proper cross-sectoral approach.
  • Knowledge of capacity strengthening best practices.
  • Experience with program monitoring and evaluation and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional relevant experience may substitute for some education.
  • Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, and knowledge-sharing networks. Ability to utilize O365, SharePoint. Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM, a plus
  • Familiarity with Power BI
  • Strong time management skills, ability to multitask.
  • Strong communication skills, able to edit and proofread documents.
  • Experience working with diverse colleagues and international organizations
  • Experience with information systems preferred. Strong aptitude for learning new technology

  • Provide support for coordinated KML efforts across diverse teams and skill sets.
