ACAPS

The ACAPS Analysis Hub currently provides analysis on the armed conflict in Colombia and its humanitarian impact and an evidence base for humanitarian decision-making, enabling a more effective and more efficient humanitarian response. The analysis produced by ACAPS furthermore helps to provide visibility to the humanitarian impact of the conflict.

The analysis produced by ACAPS includes analysis of humanitarian needs and trends, thematic analysis, and forward-looking analysis, including risk analysis. ACAPS furthermore provides technical support and methodological advice to the Mecanismo Intersectorial de Respuesta en Emergencias (MIRE) consortium – composed of NRC, AAH, ApS, and MdM and funded by ECHO.

Responsabilities

The post holder is the manager of the analysis project. This includes strategic leadership, project and team management, defining product lists and ensuring that the project meets its targets, managing workflows and providing clear directions for analysis. The post holder furthermore is responsible for building networks in country, negotiating data access, and will represent ACAPS in key decision-making bodies within the consortium and other high-level engagements. With the support of the ACAPS Grants Manager, the post holder is also responsible for fundraising for ACAPS’ work in Colombia.

Experience

  • Post-graduate qualification, preferably in humanitarian action, social sciences or international development.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the humanitarian sector at the crisis or headquarters level, with at least 2 years of management experience.
  • Experience leading multinational, multi-disciplinary teams in complex environments.
  • Experience in humanitarian analysis or research across different geographical contexts, and experience in or significant understanding of humanitarian needs assessments and working with primary and secondary data.
  • Experience in representational roles, including engagement with UN Country Teams, government officials, local civil society, donors.
  • Proven ability to work in complex multi-cultural environments.
  • Excellent drafting skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver against targets and meet deadlines within a short timeframe.
  • Experience working on humanitarian crises in Colombia and understanding of their complexity.

Knowledge and skills

  • Very strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, incl. Excel spreadsheets, word processing)
  • Excellent understanding of humanitarian coordination structures
  • Excellent understanding of quantitative and qualitative methodologies
