We are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Mentor to work on a full-time basis with a student who attends a school in the Camborne area.

To be considered for this role you will need to have experience working with SEN needs. You will need to be approachable and be able to build strong relationships quickly. You will also need good communication skills and experience of using different communication methods within a teaching environment, you will need to be clear with your instructions and be patient with the student.

You will be responsible for encouraging educational, social, and emotional development to help the student get the most out of their school experience and to help ensure that they enjoy it. You will be required to communicate with the SENCO, class teacher, [parents and the headteacher about the students’ progress, you may also be required to attend review meeting.

The class teacher will plan the students work though there may be times you are asked to plan additional tasks for the student. You may also be asked to be creative with learning to help make it engaging for the student, you will be provided with all of the resources you may need for this.

You will ideally have a level three or equivalent child related qualification and previous experience working with SEN.

You will also need to be aware of will be aware of Child Protection, Health and Safety, Behaviour, Teaching and Learning and Equal Opportunities policies. Organisational and time management skills are very important in this role as a lack of these skills could distress the students. You will also need a Child Workforce DBS which can be completed during the recruitment process

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
