A career in our Customs and Trade Tax practice, within Tax services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients meet and manage their tax obligations across unique but ever changing tax specialties. You’ll advise clients on their local and overseas tax affairs, while acting as a strategic consultant related to business analysis, managing indirect taxes, dispute resolution, and global enterprise tax solutions.

Our team helps organisations manage indirect tax implications that results in cash flow optimisation and risk reduction. You’ll help with structuring business transactions, developing efficient supply chain models, handling customs and indirect tax disputes, and implementing VAT for new to market organisations.

Demonstrates some abilities and/or a proven record of success with identifying and addressing client needs with an interest in the practical implications of the global trade environment and US Customs and Border Protection procedures and regulatory framework.

Demonstrates ability to analyze client internal control practices and evaluate client compliance with import control regulatory requirements.

Demonstrates understanding of international trade and US Customs issues such as Duty Drawback, Harmonized Tariff Classification System, customs valuation, preferential trade agreements and Rules of Origin.

Demonstrates ability identifying and addressing client needs: building relationships with clients; developing an awareness of Firm services; communicating with the client in an organized and knowledgeable manner; delivering clear requests for information; demonstrating flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks; and communicating potential conflicts to a supervisor. Demonstrates ability to work independently and engage in critical analysis of complex information and to articulate thoughts succinctly and in an organized manner and the following:

  • Has an interest in international business transactions and supply chain considerations;
  • Has the ability to conduct independent research of regulatory frameworks;
  • Has some experience with automation and digitization in a professional services environment;
  • Has interest in working with large, complex data sets to analyze data, build models and leverage data visualization tools;
  • Has proven communication skills-Ability to effectively communicate observations to internal and external stakeholders;
  • Demonstrates ability as a team member: understanding personal and team roles; contributing to a positive working environment by building relationships with team members; proactively seeking guidance, clarification and feedback; providing guidance, clarification and feedback to less-experienced team members staff; and,
  • Demonstrates some ability to write business documents clearly and concisely.
