Job Description

The Tax Manager is responsible for the tax compliance and reporting of the Australian Global Express group, and will drive the development, implementation and maintenance of robust tax procedures, processes and controls. The Tax Manager will also provide routine tax advice on day-to-day operations of the business and assist the General Manager to provide advisory support in relation to transactions and projects. The role requires a proactive and driven individual capable of managing Australian tax compliance and reporting and will entail a direct interface with the finance and commercial teams in all Australian business units.

As The Tax Manager, You Will

  • Management and delivery of timely and accurate income tax compliance processes; including delivery of tax training, tax compliance control documentation, and liaising with business units and external tax advisers
  • Provide tax technical and advisory support on all taxes to business units on day-to-day transactions and communicate relevant tax changes
  • Support the General Manager on key transaction and projects
  • Drive excellence in tax governance processes and controls and contribute to the development of internal tax policies and procedures for business units and stakeholders for management of tax risks
  • Manage and prepare responses to revenue authority tax queries and reviews
  • Identify scope for continuous improvement of tax compliance and reporting processes, and support business units in developing and improving processes / controls for managing tax risks

Qualifications

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Need

  • Degree in Accounting/Commerce or Law;
  • Professional qualifications (Chartered Accountant, Chartered Tax Adviser, CPA or equivalent).
  • Excellent understanding of the principles and practice of corporate taxation in Australia;
  • An understanding of the key taxation issues in the business in which Global Express operates.
  • Excellent verbal / written communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with business units, external advisers and tax authorities
  • Excellent project management to manage the tax compliance and reporting processes
  • Ability to work proactively and independently with a good sense of judgement in identifying and highlighting potential tax issues/exposures and opportunities
