Job Description

The Tax Analyst ensures compliance with sales and use, and real and personal property tax laws. The position reports to the Global Business Services Center Compliance Manager, based in Delaware Ohio. The preferred candidate will have 1-3 years’ experience related to US Domestic direct or indirect tax with the ability and desire to continuously learn and adjust to changes in tax regulation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service internal and external inquires on customer taxability. Obtain, verify, and manage sales tax exemption certificates within the Vertex Exemption Certificate Management system from the majority of U.S. States to ensure compliance with state and local tax laws.
  • Ensure ERP system is updated to appropriate accrue order taxability through interaction with Vertex O Series. Review tax rates and ensure they are updated appropriately.
  • Prepare and submit sales tax returns accurately and timely in accordance with state and local tax laws.
  • Partner with outside service providers to file real and personal property tax returns in accordance with state and local tax laws.
  • Partner with various departments and outside services to service audits. Respond to notices and information requests issued by taxing authorities
  • Partner with the Accounts Receivable department to advise on credit determinations based on customer taxability status.
  • Prepare payment requests to state and local jurisdictions based on tax returns.
  • Reconciliation of tax accruals in Blackline and preparation of journal entries.
  • Analyze, recommend and implement initiatives to streamline indirect tax processes.
  • Keep informed on changes in state and local tax regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Typically possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or relevant field) with 1+ years of experience.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of state and local sales and use tax laws, as well as real and personal property tax law.
  • Experience with Vertex tax software preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Attention to detail, interpersonal skills, self-motivated team player with the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong computer and technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
