Future Nation, an alliance of the private, public and development sectors, is created to accelerate the Nation’s future economic growth by enhancing the skills and potential of youth by identifying opportunities for development, employment, entrepreneurship, and investment in the post-pandemic situation. Future Nation is a new coalition of the government, private and development sector leaders to accelerate the future national economic growth agenda by transforming the country���������s population dividend into theriving force of the economy and enabling them to achieve economic independence beyond borders. The program has emerged in the context of the post-COVID world as a collective effort to create decent work and entrepreneurship opportunities for the nation. The program envisions enabling Economic Opportunities for All in Bangladesh by 2041. The program also aspires to take a strategic position to become a leading economic enabler by building an agile eco-system connecting industry experts to accelerate economic opportunities through workforce capability development and relevant enablement supports. The program not only aims to train the future workforce but also help them sustain themselves by connecting them to employment opportunities. The idea is that the youth workforce will be able to convert the set of skills learned from the training program into higher paid jobs both locally and globally which would yield a stream of income in years to come. The program will also focus on building the next generation of entrepreneurs across the nation. The overall objective of the project is to achieve economic opportunity for all by transforming the country���������s population dividend into the key driving force of the economy and enabling them with relevant skillset, decent employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. Other specific objectives are: a) Awareness building and eco-system development, b) Workforce Development, c) Workforce Placement, d) Enterprise Development The Future Nation will cover a wide spread of demography primarily women and youth; including madrasa students, tribals, Dalits, person with disability, unemployed, peripheral and transgender population which will represent the entire nation geographically. The primary Target group of the project: Graduate unemployed youths , Women, Non-graduate, Tertiary student, Migrant workers, Professionals The Systems Leader, Strategy and Business Development will report to the Assistant Resident Representative, Resilience and Inclusive Growth Cluster for overall wnd to the Assistant Resident Representative, Partnerships Cluster for private sector partnership works. S/he will work in close cooperation with the Chief Technical Advisor and National Project Manager. Duties and Responsibilities This position will directly report to Assistant Resident Representative, Resilience and Inclusive Growth Cluster and Assistant Resident Representative, Partnerships Cluster. Summary of Key Functions:Key Functions of Systems Leader, Strategy and Business Development:
Strategy planning and development, Develop and manage partnership with the private sector, foundations and donor community for mobilizing funds for Future Nations and other UNDP Projects Manage BIDA-UNDP private sector platform for COVID recovery Provide policy support to the Future Nation project; Research, Learning and Knowledge Management Provide Functional Support to other UNDP units and projects as necessary and undertake any other duties as assigned by the UNDP CO senior management
Strategy planning and development
Develop specific strategies for all the major components of the Future Nation project Developing an inclusive strategic plan for country office business development by collaborating with the leadership team, Collaborating with different projects to develop a robust resource mobilization plan in line with the country program document and associated strategies. Analyzing dynamics of the development partnership, changes of social impact requirements, and competitive intelligence. Identifying strategic risks and opportunities Collaborating with country office leadership, regional office, different cluster, and projects to execute strategies. Communicating strategy effectively throughout the organization. Coordinate with Bangkok regional Hub for localization of Global/Regional strategy Ensuring suitable metrics in place to measure performance and progress.
Develop and manage partnership with the private sector, foundations and donor community for mobilizing funds for Future Nations and other UNDP Projects
Identify possible areas of collaboration with other UNDP projects for program delivery and create national impact; Ensure thoughtful and efficient guidance and inputs as required by Management aiming to achieve the high level results-based outcomes for eventual mainstreaming; Assist the UNDP CO in further resource mobilization through developing business case model, pulling the lessons learnt from the project for wider demonstration; Lead the project for having larger coverage in terms of public education, social sensitization and awareness raising through using innovative and alternative avenues of media including various forms of social media, facilitating strategic partnerships with the press, educational institutions.; Establish, nurture and further improve the networks with pertinent experts of national and regional offices of the UN System, international development organizations, sub-regional and regional associations, affiliations and bodies (intergovernmental, non-government or private sector).
Manage BIDA-UNDP private sector platform for COVID recovery:
Acts as technical Secretariat of the Private Sector Platform for nCovid Recovery Co-designs specific strategies and action plans with the private and development sector Convenes meetings, discussions and workshops with the private and development sector Facilitates matchmaking with the appropriate Government stakeholders across areas of intervention Pursues relevant Government authorities to fast-track decision making for rapid implementation Promotes policy advocacy for the necessary reforms Supports drafting technical presentations to support meetings and advocacy, proposal writing and other required document Provides communication support as and when required, including recording meeting outcomes and follow ups Initiate survey and research initiatives on social and development topics for the relevant stakeholders Support project co-design initiative of Public-Private-Development partners
Provide policy support to the project;
Provide intellectual inputs in the subject area through identification of key policy issues and formulation of best possible and alternative policy and programme options for Bangladesh. Stimulate strategic thinking in the subject area, taking into account the needs of country as well as the opportunities to develop broader public goods; Ensure high standards in the provision of technical and advisory inputs, organization of workshops, seminars, training and delivery of outputs (products); Lead the analytical and policy development work of the project team. Promote the substantive quality of all knowledge products, reports and services, and ensure effective integration; Ensure the substantive quality of all knowledge products, reports and services;
Research, Learning and Knowledge Management:
Lead and guide the project team for capturing best practices from the fields/market and document the lessons learning as well as beneficiaries satisfactions through in-house research and studies; Provide high level technical inputs to UNDP CO particularly RIG Cluster for possible working collaboration with the different govt. agencies. Lead the process for capturing knowledge about national, regional and global know-how in Economic Opportunity creation , best practices and produce knowledge materials; Pursue Future Nation Project performance as a successful and innovative case for promoting a unique experience in the UNDP regional office through continuous capturing of learning and documentation. Build partnership with relevant practitioners, academics and civil society organizations including think tanks; Advise PM/CTA and train staff in documentation of best/good practices, lessons learned and in ensuring the mechanisms for up-scaling programme achievements from downstream pilot interventions; Organize internal and external networks or communities of practice covering prominent experts in government, non-government, think tanks, private companies, international development organizations and the UN system; Develop and apply the web-based Future Nation MIS System for real time monitoring and supervision by pertinent stakeholders; Coordinate with Bangkok regional Hub for exchanging knowledge products and Research findings
Facilitate the day-to-day functioning of the Project Management Unit;
Work closely with other system leaders, relevant project stakeholders and ensure the project deliveries as per project document and work plan Ensure technical coordination of the project and the work related to legal and institutional aspects Mobilize all project inputs in accordance with best practices on technical content Finalize the Terms of reference for all the team members working for the Strategy and business development stream for recruitment Prepare and ensure timely submission of all progress reports, annual, mid-term and terminal reports, and other reports as may be required by UNDP and Govt. Prepare quarterly and annual work plan Provide regular input to the program management on project progress, various risk and issue logs Undertake any activities that may be assigned by UNDP and National advisory committee. Manage human resources, in consultation with the Project manager/Chief technical officer and project���������s senior management, to achieve results in line with the outputs and activities outlined in the project document Lead the Strategy and business development stream for the preparation and implementation of the annual results-based work plans as endorsed by the management Coordinate project activities with related and parallel activities with external implementing partner agencies Manage and monitor the project risks initially identified and submit new risks to the national steering committee for consideration and decision on possible actions if required and update the status of these risks by maintaining the project risks log
Competencies
Ability to take initiative in complex emergency situations that takes advantage of windows of opportunity with communities and governments so as to rapidly implement programs that would otherwise be missed opportunities y to plan and strategize and manage the scaling up the project to a national level; Ability to identify opportunities, conceptualize and develop project reports Ability to engage with high ranking UNDP Management staff, Advisors, Experts, Managers, Government Officials and private sector community Maturity and confidence in dealing with senior members of national institutions; Strong interpersonal skills, communication and strategic negotiation skills, ability to work in a team Competence in designing project related to skills, employment and entrepreneurship for creating economic opportunity for the youth in the country Competence in managing critical Government, Private sector and Development stakeholders Competence in managing business and regulatory environment to pre-empt possible road blocks for implementing the projects
Required Skills and Experience Education:
Minimum Master���������s degree in the disciplines of Business, Management, Economics, or closely relevant disciplines.
Experience:
Minimum 7 yf experience in the Corporate /Development sector which should cover : At least 3 years in leading CSR/Marketing/Communication team in an international/National organization or corporate house. At least 2 years experience in Private sector partnership and resource mobilization for UN organization Proven track record of working in Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Communications, Project Management, Stakeholder Management, Relationship Management Experience in managing private sector platform engaging private sector leaders, Government officials and Development practitioners for co-designing initiative. Proven track record in the social investment projects with private sector, Government, development sectors, NGOs, and other key stakeholders in Bangladesh; Extensive private sector work experience for understanding their sustainability priority, apetitte and potential for development partnership Experience guiding and supervising teams in different organizations;
Language Requirement:
Excellent knowledge of English and Bangla, both written and verbal.
