Position Summary

Works with the electrification group assisting with projects on all different levels throughout the co-op program.

Team Summary

The electrification group is responsible for pushing boundaries, being innovative, and are passionate about being a part of the transformation from traditional powertrains to electrification. The Systems Engineer electrification team works with a concept development team during the definition of a product concept and establishes the system architecture based on system requirements from the customer. The team supports the advanced and serial development during application engineering of products, for electrified powertrains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of eDrive architecture by understanding system requirements from both external and internal sources.
  • Perform system modeling to characterize both thermal attributes and power attributes of an electrical drive system.
  • Develop various models and drawings in CAD to support electrified programs set by the eDS team.
  • Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (IATF 16949).
  • Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Expected Learning Outcomes:
    • Model and drawings design in CAD.
    • System modeling of an electrified drive system.
    • Advanced electrified powertrain and driveline components knowledge.
    • System requirements and traceability.
    • Tools knowledge: CAD, MATLAB, system requirements, electrified drive systems.

Requirements And Qualifications

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Enrolled in an engineering program with an accredited school.
  • Understand the basics of engineering theory and principles of design.
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks related to electrification of automobiles.
  • Working knowledge in engineering technology, organizational/communication skills, ability to work with others in a team environment.

Work Environment

Office Environment; limited travel required.

While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
