DanChurchAid (DCA) is one of the largest and oldest humanitarian organizations in Denmark, working both with long-term development projects and humanitarian action since 1922. DCA’s vision is to strengthen the world’s poorest people in their struggle for a life in dignity. DCA has three thematic priorities: Save lives; Build Resilient Communities; and Fight Extreme Inequalities.

DanChurchAid’s (DCA) vision is to strengthen the world’s poorest people in their struggle for a life in dignity.
One of DCA Kenya’s project is the DAISY Project whose output is to support the Pyrethrum farmers by increasing their capacity for preservation of wealth through Financial Literacy and Business Development Services. The strategy to deliver this output is through training the farmer communities on Village Savings and Loaning Associations (VSLAs). The project supports Digitization and formalization of the financial transactions of the VSLAs and enhancement of Risk Retention and pooling capacities through the social fund and saving aspect of the VSLA groups. Current project status shows that project participants are running and expanding their current ventures including agribusiness in the pyrethrum value chain and are also diversifying their income streams by starting and running other businesses. To sustain and preserve the wealth gained through pyrethrum farming and VSLA activities, the project plans to train VSLA Community facilitators on the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) curriculum. To this end, DCA seeks the services of a qualified and certified SIYB trainer to conduct a training of the VSLA Community facilitators on the SIYB curriculum to become Trainers of Trainers (ToTs) who will in turn cascade down the SIYB training to the farmer groups.
