About the Role

In our Malaysian office, we have set up the “Zero Waste Living Lab”. The goal of the lab is to reduce the need for single-use plastics by creating innovative new solutions. We already set-up Tapauware: a circular food packaging system for restaurants.

We are now looking for a venture builder who will set-up a “refill” venture. This venture should reduce plastic packaging for personal care products of cleaning products. This venture builder will test various refill models (like refill machines, returnable/refillable packaging etc.), test them with consumers, create a business model & strong business case, and ultimately scale the venture through partnerships.

You will be working closely together with another venture builder and marketeer in Kuala Lumpur and with the global Enviu team.

What it means to be a Venture Builder for Enviu

In your job you will be responsible for:

• Consumer research & testing to get to the ideal business model
• Growing and validating the business model of the reuse venture;
• Setting up the social start-up companies, including the team, operational, back-end, logistics, financial compliance, and so on
• Growing the social start-up, including sales, outreach, marketing, social media etc.
• Building partnerships with other (social) ventures, funders, governments and large corporates
• Planning and budgeting for the projects
• Analysis and control of revenues, costs and margin
• Building the ecosystem for waste prevention and specifically reuse and refill
• Inspire government officials, companies, consumers and other stakeholders to join in the reuse revolution
• Collaborating with our international offices. The job will include once yearly traveling to the Netherlands once the situation allows so

You’d be perfect for the role if you: 

• Are fluent in Malay and in English (this is aMUST)
• Ideally 5+ years (minimum of 3 years) and a maximum of 10 years of experience; of working experience in either:
• Entrepreneur, co-founder of a start-up, preferably a social entrepreneur
• Social incubator or VC firm: directly helping set-up start-ups
• Have a relevant Bachelor’s degree
• You are hands-on, have a can-do approach and can work independently
• You are business minded, and know how to financially grow a business
• You know how to test & validate a business plan
• Have a relevant network and are good at networking
• Successful track record in multi-stakeholder project management
• Experience in building partnerships (investors, corporate, NGO, Government)
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Have a clear passion for social entrepreneurship
• Preferably knowledge of lean start-up and/or design thinking
• You are impact-driven
